Solar Panel Recycling Policy and Industry Trends Seminar to be Held on June 30, 2026

With the expansion of solar power facilities since the feed-in tariff system started in 2012, solar panel waste is projected to increase significantly from the late 2030s. In response, Japan's Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry have developed policies, leading to the enactment of the Act on Promotion of Recycling of Solar Cells in May 2026. This seminar explores the recycling landscape, the new legislation, and the creation of resource loops. Yuta Okazaki (Ministry of the Environment) will discuss the current status and the new recycling act. Akiho Kawai (Mizuho Bank) will present on market trends, digital platforms, and recycling cases including glass recycling and collection. The event is scheduled for June 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00. It offers on-site attendance at the SSK Seminar Room in Minato-ku, Tokyo, live streaming via Zoom, and a two-week archive broadcast. Established in 1996, SSK hosts about 500 business seminars annually.
