Taiwan Water Corporation has issued a new announcement stating that due to maintenance work including pipeline replacement and emergency leak repairs, parts of nine counties and cities across Taiwan will face water outages on Thursday, July 9. The longest outage will last up to 10 hours. Residents in affected areas are urged to prepare in advance to minimize disruptions to daily life.

How to Prepare Before Water Outage

To ensure sufficient domestic water during the outage, Taiwan Water Corporation recommends residents complete water storage at least 6 hours before the outage begins. Avoid last-minute water collection, which may cause low water pressure at pipeline endpoints. Use clean, covered containers to maintain water hygiene.

Important Notes During and After Water Restoration

During the outage, turn off the power to water pumps. If the pump runs dry, it may overheat, cause damage, or even trigger a fire. Also, avoid submerging rubber hoses connected to taps in water to prevent back-siphonage and water source contamination upon restoration.

After water service resumes, open all taps in your home to release trapped air, which helps stabilize water flow faster. Due to elevation and pipeline position differences, residents on higher floors or at pipeline endpoints may experience slower water pressure recovery.
