The credit card market is undergoing a major reshuffle in the second half of 2026! Four major issuing banks in Taiwan—China Trust, Taishin Bank, E.Sun Bank, and Hua Nan Bank—have recently announced strategic adjustments to their co-branded card portfolios. Starting in the second half of 2026, a total of eight popular co-branded and affinity cards will face significant changes, including the cessation of new issuances, termination of partnership agreements upon contract expiration, or conversion to new card types.
This wave of changes includes many cards frequently used in daily life, such as the MUJI no brand co-branded card, Gongguan Place co-branded card, OPENPOINT Super Points co-branded card, and Taiwan Black Bear affinity card. Since each bank has different policies regarding "whether new cards will be automatically issued," "whether the original card can continue to be used," and "insurance premium auto-debit settings," it is essential for cardholders to thoroughly review the latest announcements from the four major banks to protect their rights.
China Trust: Two Lifestyle Co-Branded Cards—MUJI and Gongguan Place—Officially Exiting
China Trust will retire two well-known lifestyle-oriented co-branded cards in the second half of 2026 as partnership contracts expire. The card replacement initiative targets only customers who "hold only this specific card" or "have had transaction records within the past year." Customers who already hold other China Trust credit cards or have had no transactions in the past year will not receive automatic replacements.
MUJI no brand Co-Branded Card
The partnership agreement will expire on December 31, 2026, and the card will automatically become invalid starting January 1, 2027. China Trust will begin issuing the new "China Trust Bank Card" to eligible cardholders starting September 1, 2026.
Gongguan Place Co-Branded Card
The partnership will terminate on October 31, 2026, and the card will become invalid starting November 1, 2026. Similarly, starting September 1, 2026, eligible customers will be issued the "China Trust Bank Card" in sequence.
Taishin Bank: Woojii and Sanlink Fully Restructured, Merging into the Richart Card Family
Two major co-branded cards under Taishin Bank will undergo benefit changes in the fall and will be officially renamed and integrated into the flagship "Richart Card" family.
Taishin Securities Woojii Card (World Business/Titanium Business)
The co-branding partnership ends on August 31, 2026. Starting September 1, 2026, new benefits will apply, and the card will be renamed the "Richart Card." Cardholders do not need to replace their physical cards; their existing cards can continue to be used for transactions.
Sanlink Life Insurance Co-Branded Card
The contract expires on October 25, 2026. Starting October 1, 2026, the card will be renamed the "Richart Card." Taishin Bank will proactively issue "same-card-number new cards" to cardholders between October 1 and December 15, 2026. The most critical concern—Sanlink insurance premium auto-debit settings—will remain completely unaffected and require no reconfiguration. Before activating the new card, the old card can still be used normally for payments.
E.Sun Bank: Taiwan Black Bear Affinity Card Retires, Replaced by Flagship Unicard
E.Sun Bank is making structural adjustments to its themed affinity cards and professional association cards in the second half of 2026. Cardholders must pay attention to card activation and benefit expiration dates.
Taiwan Black Bear Affinity Card
The partnership with Taipei Zoo will expire on September 10, 2026. Starting August 26, 2026, E.Sun will begin issuing its flagship "E.Sun Unicard" to cardholders. Customers who already hold a Unicard will not receive a duplicate card. Once the new Unicard is activated, the original Black Bear card will be automatically deactivated. If the new card is not activated, the old card can continue to be used until its printed expiration date.
Taipei-New Taipei City Dental Association Member Card
The business partnership will expire on November 30, 2026, and card issuance cooperation will terminate starting December 1, 2026. Starting January 1, 2027, the original member card will no longer enjoy basic cashback, cardholder benefits, or event services.
Hua Nan Bank: Points and Department Store Co-Branded Cards Exiting, Fully Transitioning to Bear Q Card from October
Hua Nan Bank has announced that two high-profile co-branded cards will be discontinued by the end of September 2026. Cardholders can continue using their existing cards until the printed expiration date, with benefits unaffected during this period.
Affected cards include the "OPENPOINT Super Points Co-Branded Card" and the "Dream Mall Co-Branded Card," both of which will cease issuance on September 30, 2026.
As a response, starting October 1, 2026, both card types will be fully renamed the "Bear Q Card." Existing cardholders can continue using their cards until the expiration date printed on the card. If a card needs to be reissued due to damage or loss, or upon renewal after expiration, Hua Nan Bank will issue a "Bear Q Card" with the same international network and card tier starting October 1, 2026. The associated electronic payment functions (icash2.0 or iPass) will be fully retained.
In light of these major co-branded card benefit changes in the second half of 2026, cardholders are advised to closely monitor their billing statements and registered mail from their banks. While some banks emphasize that insurance premiums or recurring payments will not be affected, users who have linked their cards to mobile payment platforms, food delivery services, or automatic deductions for utility bills are strongly encouraged to verify their payment settings in the backend after receiving a new card or after the rebranding takes effect, to avoid failed transactions and potential damage to their credit history.
