On the morning of the 9th, Nantou County Magistrate Hsu Shu-Hua led engineering teams from the county's Public Works and Agriculture Departments to Nantou City to conduct on-site inspections of 14 grassroots infrastructure improvement projects, including roads, drainage systems, flood control, slopes, and retaining structures. She provided detailed briefings to petitioning residents, showcasing the county government's commitment to local development and addressing public concerns.
The inspection was attended by county councilors Lin Ju-Yang, Chang Wan-Tzu, Chang Hsiu-Chih, Hung Ming-Ko, and Nantou City Mayor Chang Chia-Chieh, who joined local village chiefs, community representatives, and petitioners to jointly review each case, understand local needs, and discuss improvement plans. A total of 14 cases were inspected, with an estimated total funding approval of NT$21.39 million.
Magistrate Hsu emphasized that grassroots infrastructure directly impacts residents' daily quality of life. Issues such as road conditions, drainage efficiency, and slope safety are closely tied to public safety and property protection. She stated that whenever local needs arise, the county government will respond proactively, conduct on-site assessments to fully understand the situation, coordinate with relevant departments to swiftly develop feasible solutions, and ensure limited resources are used to maximum effect in gradually improving the local living environment.
The projects inspected on the 9th spanned multiple administrative areas in Nantou City, including Qianqiu, Sanxing, Nantou, Zhanghe, Zhenxing, Jungong, Jiaxing, Neixing, Guangrong, Yongxing, and Fushan villages. They covered essential civil works such as road surface improvements, drainage ditch upgrades, embankment road reconstruction, slope repairs, retaining wall collapse remediation, and drainage engineering.
Some cases involved recurring issues such as flooding during heavy rains, aging and damaged roads, and slope safety hazards. Magistrate Hsu carefully listened to concerns from local residents, elected representatives, and village chiefs, and instructed the Public Works and Agriculture Departments to promptly complete planning, design, and cost evaluations based on current conditions to accelerate improvement efforts.
Hsu noted that the county government has been continuously advancing infrastructure projects across townships and cities. Regardless of project scale, any initiative related to residents' safety and transportation convenience is prioritized. By closely collaborating with local legislators, township/city offices, and grassroots village leaders, the county has established an effective communication platform to truly understand local needs and ensure construction projects meet public expectations.
Councilors Lin Ju-Yang, Chang Wan-Tzu, Chang Hsiu-Chih, and Hung Ming-Ko, along with Mayor Chang Chia-Chieh, expressed appreciation for the county government's attention to local infrastructure. They praised Magistrate Hsu for personally leading inspections of long-standing issues regarding roads, drainage, and disaster prevention, highlighting the high administrative efficiency. They expressed hope that all projects would be swiftly planned and constructed to enhance residents' quality of life and public safety.
The county government stated that it will proceed with engineering planning, design, and funding arrangements based on the inspection outcomes. Projects meeting construction conditions will be tendered and implemented as soon as possible, continuing to work hand-in-hand with local communities to improve grassroots infrastructure and build a safer, more convenient, and livable environment.
