Typhoon 'Bavi' is expected to come closest to Taiwan on the 10th and 11th of this (July) month. Due to strong wind speeds at the Tamsui River estuary, according to the current traffic management protocols set by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Highway Bureau, when the average wind speed reaches Beaufort Scale 8, the motorcycle lanes, pedestrian walkways, and bicycle paths on Danjiang Bridge will be closed, and the speed limit on the fast lanes will be reduced from 80 km/h to 40 km/h. When the average wind speed reaches Beaufort Scale 10, the entire Danjiang Bridge will be fully closed to all vehicles to ensure public safety.

In anticipation of strong winds potentially brought by Typhoon 'Bavi', if wind speeds on Danjiang Bridge reach closure thresholds, traffic control measures will be implemented accordingly, with partial or full closure of lanes or the entire bridge based on wind conditions. The Traffic Police Battalion of the New Taipei City Police Department warns that if the bridge is fully closed during the typhoon, traffic between Tamsui and Bali will be diverted via surrounding roads. The public is urged to plan their routes in advance and follow the instructions of police and traffic control personnel. Avoid traveling to areas near the bridge during closure periods to prevent traffic congestion and backlogs.

For vehicles traveling from Tamsui to Bali, Linkou, or Taoyuan, it is recommended to take Provincial Highway 2B (Zhongzheng East Road) → Guandu Bridge → Provincial Highway 15 (Longmi Road) → Bali downtown → Provincial Highway 61 (West Coast Expressway). For vehicles traveling from Bali to Tamsui, the suggested route is Provincial Highway 15 (Longmi Road) → Guandu Bridge → Provincial Highway 2B (Minquan Road) → Tamsui downtown. For those heading to the Danhai New Town, continue onward via Provincial Highway 2 (Tamsui-Jinshan Road).

Police state that during the closure of Danjiang Bridge, traffic volume on Guandu Bridge and surrounding connecting roads will significantly increase. Traffic signal adjustments, intersection guidance, and traffic control measures will be implemented as needed based on real-time conditions. Road users are required to follow the directions of police officers and volunteer traffic wardens. Violations such as cutting in line, crossing double yellow lines, or making illegal U-turns must be avoided to jointly maintain traffic order.

The New Taipei Police remind the public that during typhoon periods, non-essential travel should be avoided. Before heading out, check the latest road conditions and bridge closure information via police radio broadcasts, CMS message boards, iPolice push notifications, and other traffic information platforms. Allow ample travel time to minimize the impact of weather on your journey.
