The New Taipei City Government is committed to creating a high-quality investment environment and continuously improving industrial planning. Today (9th), it convened the first 'Industrial Development Advisory Committee' meeting of 2026, chaired by Secretary-General Chiu Jing-bin, inviting industry representatives to jointly discuss the city's development direction. The meeting featured special reports on 'Welcoming the opening of the Danjiang Bridge and boosting the northern coastal tourism economy' and 'The operation of the Sanying MRT Line and planning status of the New Taoyuan-Linkei Line (New Taipei section)'. The Secretary-General stated that the city will continue to link industrial clusters through major transportation infrastructure, drive regional development, and build a more resilient and competitive investment environment.
Secretary-General Chiu Jing-bin emphasized that transportation infrastructure not only improves citizens' quality of life but also serves as a crucial foundation for industrial development. The Danjiang Bridge, the Sanying MRT Line, and the planned New Taoyuan-Linkei Line are all key projects through which New Taipei is promoting balanced regional development. By integrating industrial clusters across regions via an improved transportation network, the city aims to enhance corporate investment efficiency and urban competitiveness, transforming transportation advantages into industrial strengths and continuously attracting businesses to invest in New Taipei.
The opening of the Danjiang Bridge effectively connects transportation between Tamsui and Bali, overcoming long-standing transportation limitations imposed by the Tamsui River, driving development in northern coastal tourism, passenger flow, and logistics, and further shaping a northern coastal tourism economic corridor. The Sanying MRT Line, which opened on June 30, significantly reduces commuting time between the Sanying area and the core districts of Taipei and New Taipei by approximately 20 minutes, while also linking local cultural and tourism resources. In the future, with the planned extension of the Sanying Line to Bade in Taoyuan, the rail networks of the Taipei metropolitan area and Taoyuan will be further integrated, promoting cross-city industrial exchange and talent mobility.
Additionally, the city government is actively collaborating with Taoyuan City to advance the approximately 26-kilometer-long New Taoyuan-Linkei Line. By integrating intercity metro corridors, this project will further connect the Linkou, Taoyuan Aerotropolis, and surrounding key industrial clusters, strengthening cooperation within the Northern Taiwan (Taipei-New Taipei-Taoyuan) living circle and industrial chain. The Secretary-General also expressed special appreciation during the meeting to the chairpersons of various industry associations for their long-term support and deep engagement regarding transportation and metro issues. Their valuable suggestions have already been incorporated into the city government's overall development considerations. The city will continue to optimize the public-private exchange platform, transforming the vision of a 'rail-based economy' into tangible global competitiveness for businesses.
Director Sheng Hsiao-jung of the Economic Development Bureau stated that transportation infrastructure is a critical foundation for investment attraction and a key driver for industrial upgrading. To create a high-quality investment environment, the bureau is continuously advancing various investment promotion initiatives, actively targeting industries such as AI smart technology and advanced manufacturing, and planning multiple industrial development zones. The currently announced investment opportunities in the 'Lixing Section, Linkou District, Type IV Industrial Zone' and the 'Wenzih Urban Land Readjustment Area Industrial Zone' will leverage the advantages of major transportation infrastructure to provide enterprises with comprehensive development space, fostering emerging industrial clusters in northern Taiwan and continuously enhancing New Taipei's industrial competitiveness.
Going forward, the city government will continue to promote the integration of major transportation projects and industrial policies, consolidating resources in transportation, investment promotion, tourism, and urban governance to accelerate the realization of rail-based economic benefits, continuously attract high-quality enterprises to invest in New Taipei, and build a livable and business-friendly international competitive city.
