The Central Weather Bureau officially issued a land warning for Typhoon Bavi this morning (10th), and as the storm's path nears Taiwan, cities including Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan have announced work and school suspensions for today. With heavy rain and strong winds expected, many residents planning to stock up on food and typhoon preparedness supplies are now turning their attention to the operating status of major retail and supermarket chains. To help the public stay informed, leading retail and supermarket chains in Taiwan have released statements regarding store hours and delivery service adjustments across the island.

Is Costco and Mei Lian She open today?

In the wholesale retail sector, U.S.-based warehouse club Costco was among the first to announce that all its stores across Taiwan will operate as scheduled today. Costco Taiwan stated that essential goods and typhoon preparedness inventory are fully stocked and available, welcoming members to visit stores to purchase daily necessities—provided they prioritize personal safety. However, Costco also urged customers to take proper typhoon precautions before heading out and to remain cautious while driving or riding to the store.

Additionally, community supermarket Mei Lian She and large-scale retailer Emart have both confirmed that all their stores across Taiwan will maintain normal operations, ensuring uninterrupted access to essential supplies for the public.

Will PX Mart stores close early?

PX Mart, Taiwan's largest supermarket chain by number of outlets, has adopted a more flexible operational response strategy. The company stated that all PX Mart and Da Quanlian stores will closely monitor real-time weather conditions across regions and may adjust operating hours accordingly. PX Mart emphasized that the core principle guiding store operations is "employee safety first."

Regarding logistics and delivery services, PX Mart's "PX Quick Delivery" service will comply with government disaster prevention directives. In any city or county where work and school have been suspended, delivery services in those areas will be temporarily halted. PX Mart also noted that even in areas not officially suspended by the government, individual stores may independently suspend delivery services or modify operations if on-site weather conditions become too severe, in order to protect staff.

Are delivery and online shopping services still available?

Wan Jia Fu and Lokah Kang supermarkets will keep their physical stores open today, allowing nearby residents to purchase fresh ingredients and typhoon supplies. However, for digital services, Wan Jia Fu has implemented restrictions: all official online shopping and "Home Express Delivery" services will be suspended today in any store located in a region where the government has declared work and school suspensions.
