Ko Wen-je recently stated in a web program interview that if President Lai Qing-te had been willing to cooperate with the Taiwan People's Party upon taking office, Taiwan's current political situation would not be so chaotic. In response, KMT Taoyuan councilor Ling Tao criticized Ko, saying that having signed an agreement with the Blue camp before the election, Ko's post-election talk of cooperation with Lai shows he 'lacks core ideology.'

On the evening of the 17th, Ko Wen-je responded during an appreciation fundraising dinner hosted by Taipei City Councilor Chen You-cheng. He said the DPP spends every day trying to 'destroy me,' while some within the KMT adopt a 'black if they can' attitude.

Ko explained that his remarks were about the need for national unity and avoiding societal division and confrontation. He believes that as president, Lai's primary duty should be to integrate diverse political forces, not treat dissenters as enemies. From legislative clashes, the 'Blue Bird' and 'Black Bear' movements, to veto motions, refusal to co-sign, refusal to promulgate, refusal to execute, and the prosecutor general appointment controversy, the overall political atmosphere has become increasingly confrontational.

He criticized, 'I think President Lai is too obsessive.' It's wrong to view those who oppose you or hold different opinions as impurities that must be eliminated.

Regarding Ling Tao's claim that Ko sought post-election cooperation with Lai, Ko said he found the accusation strange. He emphasized that he was discussing the political concept that national leaders should reduce confrontation and seek cooperation—not that he personally intended to approach Lai for collaboration.
