The Jiuru Bridge reconstruction project is scheduled to open to traffic on July 31. To review the final construction progress and address local community concerns, Secretary-General Wang Chi-chuan, Public Works Bureau Director Yang Chin-fu, Transportation Bureau Director Chang Shu-chuan, and Gushan District Chief Zheng conducted an on-site inspection this afternoon (18th) at around 3 p.m. They reviewed construction progress, road alignment design, and auxiliary facilities such as lighting, emphasizing the city government’s commitment to ensuring construction quality, traffic safety, and public accessibility.
The Public Works Bureau stated that the new construction began in August of Year 113 (2024), with the original contract completion date set for the end of December in Year 115 (2026). Thanks to the construction team’s accelerated efforts, asphalt concrete (AC) paving has been completed. Remaining works, including sidewalks, signage, and road markings, are in the final stages. The project will open ahead of schedule on July 31, Year 115 (2026), providing citizens with a safer and more complete travel environment.
The Transportation Bureau noted that the new road design incorporates multiple traffic safety features, including auxiliary lanes, bus pull-out bays, and dedicated left- and right-turn spaces. Through traffic flow separation and geometric road design, vehicles moving in different directions and at varying speeds are guided to travel in an orderly manner. Buses can pull into designated bays when stopping, avoiding interference with mainline traffic.
Left- and right-turning vehicles are provided with ample waiting and deceleration space, reducing traffic weaving and enhancing overall road efficiency and safety. Additionally, speed-reduction platforms have been installed on side roads within residential areas. These are designed to naturally slow down vehicles through road geometry, addressing past issues of excessive speeding on overly straight roads. This reduces the impact of mainline traffic on nearby residents, creating a balanced environment that prioritizes both traffic efficiency and pedestrian safety, embodying the concept of human-centered transportation.
The Construction Engineering Office reported that all construction items are now in the final phase. Street lighting has been fully installed, and upon opening, the project will not only improve traffic convenience but also enhance nighttime driving and pedestrian safety.
