To celebrate a significant milestone—the 50th anniversary of its signature Eco-Drive light-powered technology—CITIZEN hosted the 'CITIZEN Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary Image Special Exhibition' as a limited-time pop-up event at LaLaport Nangang from July 17 to 20. The exhibition guided watch enthusiasts through half a century of Eco-Drive’s evolution with a curated display of classic timepieces.

At the event, CITIZEN unveiled the 50th-anniversary limited-edition timepiece 'PHOTON,' inspired by the famous optical experiment 'double-slit experiment.' The brand also welcomed Taiwan’s table tennis national athlete Lin Yun-ju as a brand friend, who embodied CITIZEN’s fashion identity—originating from light, understated yet radiating confidence—through his composed and disciplined demeanor as an athlete.

### CITIZEN 'PHOTON' Honors the 'Double-Slit Experiment'

Since launching the world’s first light-powered watch in 1976, CITIZEN has upheld its 'Powered by Any Light' philosophy, continuously pushing the boundaries of watch power technology through innovation. This year, marking the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive, CITIZEN introduces the 'PHOTON' watch as a crowning achievement. Inspired by the renowned physics experiment 'double-slit experiment,' the watch’s dial features layered slit panels that simulate the interference patterns created when photons pass through narrow slits, symbolizing the essence and infinite potential of light.

Lin Yun-ju, making his first appearance as a brand friend, debuted the 'PHOTON' watch in a stylish ensemble distinct from his on-court look. Wearing the black-and-gold, futuristic-dial timepiece, he exuded a calm, confident urban charm. Upon wearing the new watch, Lin remarked on its exceptional lightness and drew a parallel between CITIZEN’s dedication to light-powered technology and an athlete’s daily focus on training and breakthroughs.

### Tracing 50 Years of Light-Powered Innovation: CITIZEN Unveils New E036 Movement Onsite

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive, CITIZEN hosted the 'Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary Image Special Exhibition' at LaLaport Nangang from July 17 to 20. Through displays of iconic historical models and latest creations, the exhibition traced the half-century journey of light-powered technology. Highlights included the 1976 original light-powered watch and other historic classics, illustrating how CITIZEN has consistently overcome limitations in battery life, precision, and dial structure—starting from light—to create innovative and aesthetically refined timepieces.

At the exhibition, CITIZEN also launched its newly developed E036 light-powered movement. Featuring an upgraded circuit system, the movement enhances core performance while maintaining a slim profile, enabling it to drive heavier, more substantial hands. With a remarkable 365-day continuous operation capability, it reflects CITIZEN’s pursuit of precision and practicality, marking a significant milestone as light-powered technology advances toward the next-generation standard.

In addition to technological and historical displays, the exhibition featured a check-in campaign: visitors completing designated tasks received a limited-edition CITIZEN phone stand, inviting watch lovers to experience the innovative energy woven from light and time.

### Experience the Allure of Light with 'PHOTON'—'Shades of Red' Mystique Also Takes Center Stage

As a masterpiece commemorating 50 years of light-powered innovation, 'PHOTON' features a case with an octagonal and cushion-shaped silhouette crafted from CITIZEN’s proprietary Super Titanium™, paired with an integrated bracelet to convey a futuristic and sporty aesthetic. The dial design draws inspiration from the double-slit experiment, using layered slit panels combined with a structural color panel on the lower layer that refracts light to create vibrant, multicolored glimmers. This re-creates the interference patterns formed when photons pass through dual slits, capturing the trajectory and allure of light on the wrist.

The 'PHOTON' collection includes the BJ6569-59X in black with amber gold accents, and the BJ6560-53W with a natural titanium case and bracelet. Both models are powered by CITIZEN’s newly launched E036 light-powered movement, converting natural and artificial light into energy and offering up to 365 days of continuous operation—accompanying wearers as they confidently master time.

Alongside the 50th-anniversary limited 'PHOTON,' CITIZEN also launched two 'Blood Moon' limited-edition watches, inspired by the mysterious and captivating astronomical phenomenon. Both the F950-powered light-powered GPS atomic timekeeping watch CC4077-71Z and the light-powered global radio-controlled watch BY1005-73Z feature red dials, lunar textures, multi-layered designs, and black cases and bracelets to evoke the deep, mystical atmosphere of a rising blood moon. The CC4077-71Z showcases shimmering visual depth with silver city names printed in a ring on the sapphire crystal bezel and a red lunar-textured panel layered over a white mother-of-pearl base. The BY1005-73Z features a moon-phase disc with pearlescent printing, depicting a starry night sky and exemplifying the perfect fusion of technological functionality and aesthetic beauty.
