A major industrial accident occurred on April 19, 2025, at the construction site of TSMC's Baoshan F20 Plant P3 area in Hsinchu Science Park. A worker from subcontractor Lisheng Engineering was performing traffic control duties and walking toward a checkpoint when he was struck by a large cargo truck operated by another subcontractor, Shengfeng Engineering, which was reversing. Due to limited rear visibility, the driver reportedly failed to notice the worker behind the vehicle. The impact caused the worker to fall and be run over by the truck's wheels, resulting in severe deformation of his chest and abdomen. Fellow workers immediately called emergency services at 119. The ambulance arrived at 11:31 a.m., but paramedics confirmed the worker had already died at the scene and did not transport the body. Police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence to investigate whether the truck driver is liable for professional negligence resulting in death. The labor inspection authority has also intervened to verify whether proper traffic control, reversing warnings, and safety protection measures were implemented at the site as required. The investigation will further clarify responsibilities related to construction management and occupational safety.
