What to Do During Water Shutoff 1. Store water at least 6 hours before shutoff to avoid last-minute demand that leaves end users without water. 2. Before the shutoff, turn off power to water pumps, booster motors, and electric storage water heaters to prevent fire hazards. 3. Users with water inlets below ground level should close the main valve before the meter during shutoff to prevent siphon contamination. 4. When using a hose, do not submerge the end in water to avoid secondary contamination via siphoning. 5. When water resumes, open all valves to release air for faster restoration. Users at pipeline ends or high elevations may experience delayed supply due to low pressure. If water is still missing after resumption, contact the water company for assistance.
