Do you have emergency water stored at home? Taiwan Water Corporation has released its latest construction and maintenance schedule. Starting Tuesday, July 21, temporary water outages will be implemented across parts of 10 counties and cities throughout Taiwan. The outages are primarily due to aging pipeline replacements, main pipe reconnections, emergency equipment repairs, and leak detection projects. Among the affected areas, parts of Taoyuan City, including Yangmei, are hit hardest, with water disruptions lasting up to 21 hours. What to Do Before the Outage? Risk of Motor Overheating if Not Turned Off?
To avoid major disruptions to daily life, Taiwan Water Corporation recommends completing water storage at least 6 hours before the outage begins. Avoid last-minute pumping, as it may cause a sudden drop in water pressure at the end of the pipeline.
The company especially emphasizes turning off the power to water pumps during the outage. If the pump continues to run dry when the basement water tank is empty, it may overheat and damage the equipment, potentially even causing a fire. After water service resumes, it is recommended to open all faucets in the house to release trapped air. Once the water flow stabilizes, normal use can resume. Residents on higher floors or at the end of pipelines may experience slower water pressure recovery. If no water is available after service resumes, contact Taiwan Water Corporation directly for assistance.
