When it rains, shoes get wet and slippery, making it a daily headache for commuters in Taiwan during the summer. FIKKA, a new footwear brand, has launched the 'Air Walker Moonwalk Sandals,' which are lightweight, waterproof, and slip-resistant with a minimalist design. In just half a month since its launch on a crowdfunding platform, it has attracted over 3,000 supporters, with cumulative sales exceeding 5,000 pairs and a crowdfunding achievement rate surpassing 10,000%, quickly becoming a hot topic in the summer footwear market.
Traditional sandals are often criticized for being bulky and stuffy, and their soles can accumulate water and become slippery in the rain. FIKKA states that the Air Walker is equipped with AirBase cushioning technology and features a 14-hole three-dimensional water guide insole. On sunny days, it increases air circulation inside the shoe, and on rainy days, it can quickly drain accumulated water, reducing the discomfort of having your feet soaked in wet shoes for long periods.
The shoe body is made of lightweight EVA material, with a single shoe weighing approximately 225 grams. Combined with a deep-patterned slip-resistant outsole, it is designed for various scenarios such as commuting, campus life, shopping, dining, and outdoor camping. The brand describes the light and bouncy feel when wearing them as 'walking on the moon's surface,' aiming to make rain shoes also comfortable and stylish.
The Air Walker abandons the common rounded and blunt design of traditional sandals and instead features a one-piece molded streamlined contour for a futuristic look. During the crowdfunding period, three color options—white, black, and blue—are available, while physical product selection channels also offer deep gray and khaki peach colors, suitable for various styles such as industrial, outdoor functional, and urban casual wear.
The brand states that this shoe not only aims to solve the problem of choosing shoes in the rain but also to break the stereotype that waterproof shoes can only prioritize functionality, allowing consumers to maintain their style even when encountering afternoon thunderstorms.
To allow consumers to experience the weight and feel of the shoes, FIKKA has set up experience points at Taipei's Ximending Eslite, Taichung's Chimei Eslite, and Kaohsiung's Dream Mall, where the public can try them on. After the official launch, physical experience will also be available in 11 stores across Taiwan.
The early bird crowdfunding campaign will continue until August 17, during which a limited-time 'buy one, get one free' plan will be offered, giving away a pair of Moonwalk Slippers from the same series. Additionally, entering a specified discount code at checkout will provide further discounts. The brand reminds that the quantity of each size and color is limited, and the actual campaign content and shipping information should be referred to the crowdfunding platform's announcement.
