New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih announced today (22) on Facebook that the New Taipei Dajiaodan stadium will be located at the 'Shulin Ji-5' site, with the surrounding area expected to form New Taipei City’s 'Fourth Urban Center.' In response, Su Chiao-hui, a mayoral candidate representing the Shulin district, expressed her support. As the planning and execution will fall to the next mayor, Su demonstrated her readiness to take over, stating that the New Taipei Dajiaodan requires a new leader who 'loves baseball and concerts,' and possesses 'execution power, innovative thinking, creativity, and the ability to connect with international sports events and global trends'—and that she is the most suitable candidate.
Su Chiao-hui said, 'Congratulations to the people of Shulin—we are finally welcoming New Taipei’s Dajiaodan.' She thanked Mayor Hou Yu-ih’s administration for their efforts, noting that the official announcement by New Taipei City marks a milestone. She emphasized that from venue design and transportation planning to sustainable operations integrating sports and entertainment events, the project demands a capable, forward-thinking, and internationally connected leader. As someone passionate about baseball and live concerts, Su believes she can better understand fan needs and turn the Dajiaodan into a landmark for New Taipei.
Su pointed out that Shulin offers the ideal environment and transportation infrastructure. Over recent years, she has advocated for key transportation projects in Shulin, including the Shulin MRT line, the addition of a ramp connecting to Fuzhou Bridge on Provincial Highway 65, and the construction of an outer embankment road along the Dahan River. These developments enhance Shulin’s capacity to host the Dajiaodan. Yesterday, she inspected the progress of the Shulin MRT line with Mayor Hou, urging accelerated infrastructure improvements before construction begins.
Citing the construction of Taipei’s Dajiaodan as a cautionary example, Su noted it took 11 long years, faced prolonged contract and safety disputes, and still suffers from leaks after completion. If elected mayor, she pledged to expedite construction to ensure the New Taipei Dajiaodan is completed on time and to high standards, boosting local economic development, fostering community pride, and creating a multi-use venue centered on baseball but also hosting large-scale concerts and performances—establishing a new landmark for New Taipei.
Regarding Tamsui, which was not selected, Su shared her vision. She committed to enhancing medical capacity through a new medical district proposed with New Taipei City Councilor Cheng Yu-en, integrating this with the development of the second phase of the Tamsui New Town, ongoing projects like the Danbei Road, Tamsui Science Park, and the second phase of the Danhai Light Rail, ensuring Tamsui residents enjoy comprehensive living and industrial functions.
