The 2026 Miaoli Marine Tourism Festival will launch on August 1 at Tongxiao Seaside Bathing Beach. The event series integrates the Tongxiao Sand Sculpture Art Festival and a marine agriculture and fisheries market, culminating in a 'Rock & Roll Night' evening concert featuring renowned singers. A 'Miaoli Coin' point giveaway campaign will also be launched. County Magistrate Chung Tung-jin invites people from across the nation to visit Tongxiao and enjoy a summer filled with artistic and romantic coastal vibes.

The Miaoli Marine Tourism Festival has been held continuously for over ten years, with the county government long promoting marine environmental protection and sustainable fisheries development. Each year, diverse events are organized to help the public connect with the ocean and appreciate its value. Since 2019, the 'Slow Fish Movement' has linked coastal towns including Zhunan, Houlong, Tongxiao, and Yuanli to create the 'Slow Fish Coast,' promoting five core concepts: 'Blue Ocean, Blue Education, Traditional Fishing Methods, Blue Organizations, and Blue Tourism,' gradually rooting marine culture into daily life.

The county's Department of Agriculture notes that this year's festival continues the spirit of marine education, hosting a fish fry release event at Xinpu Fishing Port on July 29. In collaboration with teachers and students from Xinpu Elementary School, ten thousand four-lined terapon (commonly known as 'Ngóo-á-hî') fingerlings will be released into the sea to help restore marine ecosystems and support local fisheries. The county also urges residents to jointly protect marine resources.

At the press conference, popular singer Li Xiao-hua performed the classic Hokkien song 'Ai Ren Zui Luo Qu' to energize the audience and kick off the festival.

Department of Agriculture Director Chen Shu-yi explained that the 2026 festival, integrated with the Tongxiao Sand Sculpture Art Festival, creates a summer coastal celebration combining art, humanity, and environmental education. Centered on the theme 'Get Close to the Sea, Know the Sea, Protect the Sea,' the event features not only sand sculpture exhibitions but also local agricultural and fishery product tastings, interactive educational booths, souvenir giveaways, and fun quiz games. Visitors can deeply experience the lifestyle and cultural characteristics of Miaoli's coastal region, enjoying a vibrant marine carnival from day into night.

The evening's highlight, 'Rock & Roll Night,' will feature performances by popular artists including Cosmos People, Weng Li-you, Ivy, Chang Jo-fan, Li Xiao-hua, Ray Huang Ting-jui, and girl group LUVSSI.

Additionally, the event includes a 'Miaoli Coin' point giveaway campaign. From noon on July 24 to noon on July 26, 400 'Miaoli Coin' packages will be distributed. Another 400 will be available from July 27 to 29, and 450 more from noon on July 30 to noon on August 1. The public is encouraged to download the 'Miaoli Coin' app and watch the 'Marine Tourism Festival' video to receive 40 points.

Magistrate Chung expressed gratitude to Taipower Tongxiao Power Plant and CPC Corporation's Exploration and Production Division for their participation and sponsorship, which have greatly enhanced the festival. He emphasized that the event promises to be spectacular and warmly invited people nationwide to visit Tongxiao and enjoy a summer rich in art and romantic coastal charm.
