To strengthen nationwide defense and reserve resilience, the Ministry of National Defense held the inaugural '2026 National Airsoft Shooting Competition.' Liao Ying-Xi, a member of the Presidential Office's Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience Committee and理事长 of the Republic of China Civil Defense Education Association, stated that his company has spent ten years developing over 500 models of long guns now sold in 70 countries. 'If the nation is unstable, I can't make any money!' he declared, urging businesses to contribute to national defense and proposing tax incentives for corporate investments in related programs.
In an interview, Liao expressed appreciation for the Ministry of National Defense's initiative, noting that his company is proud to contribute to civil defense efforts. After a decade of development, the company now exports more than 500 types of long guns to 70 countries. Liao emphasized that stable business growth depends on national stability, stating, 'If the country is unstable, I can't earn a single dollar.' He called for uniting positive energy to contribute to Taiwan's stability.
Liao highlighted that ten years ago, his company produced an exact replica of the T91 rifle. If every citizen could accurately hit 25 targets within 20 seconds, combat effectiveness would be significantly enhanced, and everyone would be capable with firearms. He raised the question: 'In times of unrest, do you have the ability to protect yourself and your family?' He stressed the importance of basic shooting skills and noted that 400,000 reserve soldiers could be trained within two years at a very low cost—approximately NT$5,000 per person.
Liao pointed out that live-fire training is limited by insufficient shooting ranges and firearms. Airsoft guns, therefore, serve as a practical foundation for basic training. He recommended that companies support their alma maters by establishing shooting teams and facilities, and proposed that such corporate investments should qualify for tax deductions. This would create a win-win-win scenario for businesses, the government, and society.
