Starlux Airlines' 'STARLUX AIRSORAYAMA Art Project' reaches new heights with the launch of a revolutionary safety video, co-created with Japanese artistic icon Hiroshi Soryama. The AIRSORAYAMA SILVER aircraft has already entered service on popular routes, allowing passengers to experience this airborne masterpiece up close.
Beyond its eye-catching exterior, the aircraft’s in-flight safety video has become a major highlight. Crafted by SAUVAGE.TV, an award-winning creative studio from Barcelona renowned globally for its visionary work, the video marks the first time Soryama’s most iconic and legendary creation, the 'Sexy Robot,' takes the lead as the safety demonstration protagonist. By seamlessly blending aviation safety with avant-garde art, the video delivers an unprecedented immersive in-flight experience.

The full safety video runs for approximately five minutes, opening with a vast celestial sky. Soryama’s legendary 'Sexy Robot,' dressed in a Starlux Airlines flight attendant uniform, elegantly demonstrates safety procedures—including oxygen mask usage, seatbelt fastening, and emergency evacuation—with fluid mechanical movements. The interplay of light reflecting off its metallic joints and the sleek, contemporary cabin creates a captivating atmosphere, launching passengers into a unique flying adventure. Soryama’s other iconic creation, the 'SORAYAMA SHARK,' also makes a surprise appearance, adding a bold visual signature to the video.
One of the most stunning easter eggs in the film is the 'Kid Robot,' specially designed by SAUVAGE.TV for this project. Personally supervised and artistically directed by Hiroshi Soryama, this character delivers a forward-thinking visual surprise. Guided by the Sexy Robot, the Kid Robot demonstrates how to wear a child’s life vest. This new mechanical lifeform, radiating a soft metallic sheen and possessing wide, curious eyes, symbolizes the continuous evolution of future technology and concretely visualizes Starlux Airlines’ meticulous safety care for every young passenger.
Additionally, every cabin element in the video—seats, electronic devices, and interior details—has been custom-designed to AIRSORAYAMA’s exclusive specifications, ensuring Soryama’s signature metallic aesthetic permeates the entire visual narrative. By cleverly integrating these design elements with safety content, the routine safety video is transformed into a visually striking work that balances mechanical tension with cutting-edge aesthetics. It infuses warmth into its cold mechanical language, offering passengers a deeply immersive sensory experience and drawing them further into the world of AIRSORAYAMA.
Ernest Desumbila, Creative Director of SAUVAGE.TV, shared that this was the team’s most challenging yet rewarding project to date. To authentically capture the nuanced metallic texture and natural motion of the Sexy Robot, the team invested extensive time researching material reflectivity and employed a combination of motion capture and 3D animation technologies. Their goal was to break free from traditional formats and create a safety video that immerses viewers into Soryama’s artistic universe.
Hiroshi Soryama, the legendary Japanese artist, expressed immense joy at this collaboration, noting that as someone who has loved airplanes since childhood, this marks his first-ever project related to aviation after nearly six decades of artistic creation. He stated, 'The outcome of this collaboration is exceptionally complete—arguably my most perfect work. I hope passengers feel awe and amazement when watching it.'

Starlux Airlines Chairman Kuo-Wei Chang emphasized, 'A safety video shouldn’t just be a routine clip passengers watch before takeoff—it should be the beginning of the journey. We aim to merge avant-garde visuals with flight safety so passengers willingly focus on the safety demonstration and rediscover the inherent charm of flying. By collaborating with a world-class creative studio, we’ve breathed life into the master’s Sexy Robot, transforming it into Starlux’s exclusive flight safety guide. It safeguards every takeoff while simultaneously launching passengers into an imaginative art journey.'
The AIRSORAYAMA SILVER aircraft began operations on July 12th, serving Tokyo and Phoenix routes, and will be deployed on the Prague route upon its launch. The AIRSORAYAMA GOLD aircraft is scheduled for delivery in August. Starting October 1st, the AIRSORAYAMA themed flights will officially launch, offering passengers a fully immersive experience—from check-in and boarding to in-flight service—where art and flight intertwine. Starlux Airlines aims to redefine public perception of aviation through this cross-industry collaboration, transforming flight from mere transportation into a journey through art across the world.
