A southern cloud system is moving northward, increasing moisture across Taiwan starting today (26th). The Central Weather Administration reports scattered short-duration showers or thunderstorms in eastern, southeastern, and southern areas today and tomorrow, with a chance of localized heavy rain in the southeastern region and Hengchun Peninsula. Other regions should remain alert for afternoon thunderstorms, some of which may bring intense rainfall.
Today and tomorrow, under the influence of the southern cloud system, scattered brief showers or thunderstorms are expected in the east, southeast, south, Penghu, and Kinmen. Rainfall will be more pronounced in the southeast and Hengchun Peninsula, with a higher probability of localized heavy rain. Isolated brief showers may occur along the northern coast of Keelung and northeastern Taiwan, while other areas will mostly be cloudy. However, localized afternoon thunderstorms are likely, some bringing heavy downpours.
Daytime temperatures remain high despite increased moisture. Western Taiwan may see highs of 34–36°C, while eastern areas range from 32–33°C. Parts of Taipei and northern Taiwan could reach 36°C. Strong UV radiation is expected around midday; outdoor activities require sun protection and adequate hydration. Avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Over the coming week, Taipei and northern areas may continue to see highs of 36°C, while central and southern regions hover around 34–35°C.
On Tuesday (28th), moisture remains high. Eastern, southeastern, and southern areas will see scattered brief showers. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny, with afternoon thunderstorms possible. Localized heavy rain is possible in mountainous areas of central and northern Taiwan.
From Wednesday (29th) to Saturday (August 1st), most areas will see mostly cloudy to sunny conditions. Only the southeastern region and Hengchun Peninsula may see isolated brief showers, with localized afternoon thunderstorms in mountainous areas.
The Central Weather Administration warns of long-period swells along the eastern coast—including Lanyu and Green Island—as well as southwestern coastal areas, Hengchun Peninsula, Penghu, and Kinmen this morning. Beachgoers should exercise caution. Meanwhile, Kinmen and Matsu may experience low clouds or localized fog early in the morning, reducing visibility. Travelers and flight passengers should monitor transportation updates.
