Democratic Progressive Party legislator and New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui held a grassroots forum today (26th) with New Taipei City Councilor Weng Chen-chou in Xinzhuang, attracting over 2,000 supporters who packed the Xinzhuang Arena. Chants of 'Su Chiao-hui, number one!' and 'Xinzhuang will produce the mayor!' filled the air, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Su stated that, if elected mayor of New Taipei, she will integrate transportation infrastructure, tourism, and family-friendly recreational resources to connect Xinzhuang Temple Street, the Sports Park, Zhonggang Canal, and Honghui Plaza into a 'Tourism Cross Corridor,' aiming to comprehensively enhance Xinzhuang's quality of life.
During the event, Weng Chen-chou unveiled a policy video proposing the creation of a '10,000-ping park' in South Xinzhuang to expand green and recreational space for residents. Su expressed strong support, noting that South Xinzhuang is densely populated and lacks green areas, and pledged that the city government will actively promote related construction projects.
Su emphasized that Honghui Plaza will serve as the core, linking attractions such as Zhonggang Canal and Wengzidi Wetland Park, combined with improved transportation and regular family-friendly events, to build a new tourism and leisure axis for Xinzhuang—a new living zone suitable for family outings and resident recreation.
She stressed that a mayor with innovative ideas can profoundly transform a city. Having spent ten years deeply rooted in New Taipei, she understands citizens' needs better than anyone and hopes to gain broader public support to jointly drive a comprehensive upgrade of the city.
