The digitally restored version of the film 'Lubinghua' has returned to the big screen, and a special 37th-anniversary reunion screening was held yesterday (26th). Director Yang Li-Kuo and lead actress Lee Shu-Chen reunited at the event, with Yang affectionately calling Lee 'sister,' prompting her to laugh and say it felt like returning to childhood.

The 37th-anniversary reunion screening of 'Lubinghua' brought together key cast and crew, including Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute Chairman Chu Ming-Jen, director Yang Li-Kuo, lead actress Lee Shu-Chen, cinematographer Mark Lee Ping-Bing, art director Chang Tsai-Ming, and original theme song singer Tseng Shu-Chin. Chu also called out to Huang Kunxuan, who played 'Gu A-Ming,' urging him to join the celebration.

Lee Shu-Chen, who debuted as a child actress, has collaborated with Yang Li-Kuo on multiple projects. Their emotional reunion after many years moved both deeply. Yang warmly called Lee 'sister' and gave her a big hug, to which she responded, 'I feel like time has reversed—I’m back in childhood again.' Lee shared that as a child, she didn’t have much chance to interact with senior crew members like Mark Lee and Chang, but she was closest to Yang. Reuniting with the full team now brings warmth and gratitude, especially knowing the film is still beloved after so many years.

Lee Shu-Chen and cinematographer Mark Lee also reminisced about the filming experience. Mark recalled the tea plantation scenes and the brother’s death scene, saying they still move him deeply. Lee remembered filming with Huang Kunxuan and joked, 'He was so annoying—he bullied me off-set. Whenever I wasn’t filming with him, I’d stay far away.'

Yang revealed that after filming 'My Son is a Genius,' Huang moved to Hong Kong and, after one dinner together, they lost contact completely.

The 37th-anniversary special screening of Taiwan’s national classic 'Lubinghua' took place on the 26th at the Ximen Guobin Grand Theater, with Chairman Chu Ming-Jen, cinematographer Mark Lee Ping-Bing, lead actress Lee Shu-Chen, director Yang Li-Kuo, original singer Tseng Shu-Chin, and art director Chang Tsai-Ming in attendance.
