The political landscape in Taiwan is shifting. The Taiwan Inspiration Association has released its latest public opinion survey on the favorability and 2028 presidential election support for major political figures. The results show that Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has topped the favorability rankings with 49%, surpassing President Lai Qingde, who received 45%. Other figures include Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen at 41%, Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu at 39%, legislator Shen Po-yang at 27%, and KMT Chairperson Cheng Li-chun at 18%. In the hypothetical 2028 KMT presidential primary, Chiang Wan-an leads with 30% support, followed by Lu Hsiu-yen at 23%, Han Kuo-yu at 19%, and Cheng Li-chun at 5%. The survey was conducted by Homeland Market Research from the 15th to 19th of this month, with 1,200 respondents aged 20 and above. Using stratified random sampling via both landline and mobile phones (600 each), the margin of error is ±2.83 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
