Democratic Progressive Party Tainan mayoral candidate Chen Ting-fei attended the founding ceremony of the 'Greater Tainan Tourism Industry Support Association' today (27th), receiving enthusiastic support from representatives of tourism industry associations and chambers across Greater Tainan. She emphasized that Tainan possesses profound cultural heritage and abundant tourism resources, and pledged to integrate industry, public associations, and resources from both central and local governments to create a city where visitors are willing to stay, spend, and return—boosting tourism revenue and employment opportunities.

Chen expressed gratitude to support association president Wu Chun-tai and other stakeholders, noting that tourism development cannot rely solely on government efforts. Instead, collaboration between public and private sectors is essential to build a complete tourism industry chain, enhance urban competitiveness, and position Tainan as the top destination for domestic and international tourists.

Reflecting on her 10 years as a city councilor and 18 years as a legislator, Chen stated that she has consistently served the community with a step-by-step approach. All her policy plans have been carefully considered and developed over time, reflecting her pragmatic leadership style aimed at steadily advancing Tainan.

She outlined her future policy blueprint, including the 'Three Technology Axes,' 'Four Seasons Agriculture and Fisheries,' 'Five Major Tourism Axes,' 'Welfare Parity with Six Major Cities,' and 'Seven-Color Transportation Network.' The 'Five Major Tourism Axes'—critical to tourism development—will connect tourism resources across northern and southern Tainan, coastal areas, and mountainous regions. By integrating museums, art galleries, street food, Bib Gourmand-recommended restaurants, religious culture, coastal attractions, and unique camping sites, comprehensive travel itineraries will be designed to transform Tainan from a day-trip destination into a multi-day immersive tourism hub.

Regarding development in the northern Tainan (Xibei) region, Chen highlighted her long-term advocacy for upgrading the Houbi Orchid Garden into a national-level floral industry park, which was successfully achieved last year. Moving forward, a regular floral market will be held every fourth week of the month to establish a floral brand for southern Taiwan. She also plans to develop an 'Orchid Beast' theme park and family picnic zones, linking attractions such as the Five-Fen Train, Taisugar's historic warehouses, Wusheh Forest Park, farmers' marketplaces, Jiangnan Resort, and Guanziling Hot Springs to drive holistic tourism growth in the Xibei region.

Chen emphasized that transportation infrastructure is a cornerstone of tourism development. She plans to prioritize a semi-loop rapid transit system that connects the High-Speed Rail, Southern Taiwan Science Park, and key urban nodes. This improved transportation network will not only boost tourism and industry but also attract young people to return to their hometowns for employment and entrepreneurship.

In closing, Chen stated that Tainan is never lacking in cultural and tourism assets—the real need lies in integration and connectivity. She pledged to establish close partnerships with tourism industry associations to jointly advocate for major infrastructure projects and tourism resources from the central government, realizing the vision of 'One Greater Tainan.' By encouraging tourists to stay longer and spend more, Tainan will continue to generate new value in its tourism economy and advance toward becoming Taiwan's capital of tourism.
