The heart of Daxi's "Welcoming the 24th of June" lies in the 32 community-based troupes formed organically by local residents. To express gratitude for divine protection, these groups participate annually in the procession celebrating Lord Guan's birthday on the 23rd and 24th days of the sixth lunar month. Beiguan music and other musical performance troupes were among the earliest and most essential components of each group. As the festival approaches, residents from all walks of life in Daxi transform into troupe members, becoming amateur musicians who play instruments to honor the deity. The rhythmic drumming and melodies during the procession create a moving musical celebration.

The 2026 Daxi Daxi Festival centers on a century-old lifestyle rooted in celebration. On July 26, the "Voices That Never Fade" concert will bring together nine local troupes and five contemporary music acts. Expect innovative fusions such as Beiguan music with pop bands, Taiwanese funk with Three Kingdoms generals, and more—musical performances that reinterpret how Daxi’s diverse trades once embraced music a century ago. This celebration through music honors Lord Guan’s birthday, and today, a century later, the fusion of traditional troupes and modern pop music breathes new life into festival traditions!

Co-organized by the Taoyuan City Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum (hereinafter “Wood Ecomuseum”) and Daxi Puzhitang, the Daxi Daxi Festival integrates design, local businesses, and community participation to offer an authentic local celebration experience. Running from now until August 6, 2026, the festival promotes the cultural heritage of the “Daxi Puzhitang Lord Guan’s Birthday Celebration” (commonly known as “Welcoming the 24th of June”). This year’s theme, “Festival Music,” includes the “Voices That Never Fade” concert, hands-on activities, and immersive installations, inviting visitors to experience the enduring cultural charm of Daxi’s century-old traditions.

The 2026 Daxi Daxi Festival also features diverse experiences such as the Troupe Fitness Challenge, Folk Culture Adventure Camp, Theater Walks, and joining the main procession. Integrated with the Cultural Bureau’s “Art Travel Taoyuan Digital Platform” digital stamp rally, the festival encourages the public to explore Daxi in person, learn about festival culture, and keep traditions alive in daily life. Throughout the event, local organizations—including the Daxi District Folk Arts Association, troupes, and woodcraft artisans—will host complementary activities, allowing visitors to discover Daxi through shops and troupes while celebrating Lord Guan’s birthday.

Exclusive limited-edition merchandise includes the specially designed “Daxi Daxi Beiguan Gentleman Hat,” inspired by Daxi’s century-old Beiguan tradition and crafted using pineapple fiber from a local sustainable materials company, reflecting circular economy and resource sustainability. A new co-branded version of last year’s popular “Daxi Daxi Guan Gong Guaigua” will also be released and sold at local stores. Annual limited items such as commemorative towels, special badges, phone stands, phone clip lanyards, and amulets will be available at the Daxi Wood Ecomuseum shop. Through creative performances and interactive experiences, Daxi Daxi makes festival culture more engaging and accessible, continuing to pass on the cultural richness of local celebrations!
