The Taiwan Inspiration Association (TIA) today (27th) released the latest 'July Taiwan Situation Survey Report.' Regarding the performance of the Lai administration, 56% expressed satisfaction and 42% dissatisfaction. For the current performance of the Legislative Yuan, 35% were satisfied and 61% dissatisfied.

In terms of public favorability toward major political figures, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an ranked highest with 49%, followed by President Lai Qingde at 45%. The lowest favorability rating went to Kuomintang Chairperson Cheng Li-chun at 18%.

The poll results on favorability toward specific political figures show Chiang Wan-an (49%) and Lai Qingde (45%) at the top. Next are Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen (41%) and Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu (39%), followed by DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang (27%), and then Cheng Li-chun (18%). Another 12% said they had no opinion or did not know.

Which demographic groups support which political figures?

Cross-analysis reveals significant differences in favorability across demographic groups. By gender, favorability toward Han Kuo-yu and Shen Po-yang was higher among males than females.

By age, favorability toward Lai Qingde increased with age, rising from 28% among 20–29 year-olds to 57% among those aged 60 and above. Favorability toward Cheng Li-chun also increased with age, from 6% among 20–29 year-olds to 21% among those aged 40 and above. Chiang Wan-an received the highest favorability (57%) among those aged 30–59, while Lu Hsiu-yen was most favored (55%) among those aged 50–59.

By education level, favorability toward Lai Qingde was highest among those with elementary education or below (75%). Favorability toward Shen Po-yang decreased with higher education levels, from 51% among those with elementary education or below to 16% among postgraduates.

By party preference, DPP supporters showed the highest favorability toward Lai Qingde (84%). KMT and Taiwan People's Party supporters expressed higher favorability toward Han Kuo-yu, Lu Hsiu-yen, and Chiang Wan-an. Among those with no party preference, Lu Hsiu-yen and Chiang Wan-an received the highest favorability.

This public opinion survey was conducted by the Taiwan Inspiration Association,委托 to Homeland Market Research Co., Ltd. It used stratified random sampling with both landline and mobile phone interviews, completing 1,200 valid responses—600 via landline and 600 via mobile. The survey targeted adults aged 20 and above nationwide, conducted from July 15 to 19, 2026. At a 95% confidence level, the maximum margin of error is ±2.83%.
