Daughter-in-Law Slain by Father-in-Law in Over 100 Stab Wounds in Zhonghe! Motive Revealed: Friend Exposes the 'Demon Family's' True Nature

A horrific family tragedy recently unfolded in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, where a 66-year-old man surnamed Zhang fatally attacked his 34-year-old daughter-in-law, also surnamed Zhang, in a violent dispute over child-rearing methods and financial values. The man then chased her with two knives, stabbing her over a hundred times, leading to her death. The incident has drawn widespread public attention.

A close friend and former colleague of the victim, who had known her for nearly a decade, came forward to reveal the underlying circumstances. She stated that the victim had been working two jobs to support her young daughter financially. However, her husband, Mr. Zhang, had been working in Taichung for years, failing to fulfill his responsibilities toward his family and daughter. Shockingly, he was involved in an extramarital affair and refused to pay even NT$5,000 per month in child support, choosing instead to spend money on his younger mistress.

The friend further revealed that the husband once brought his mistress to a family gathering and asked her to wait in the car. When confronted by his wife, he became enraged and attempted to charge at her. Most disturbingly, message records showed that the husband had absurdly proposed that his wife and mistress live together and split the rent—a demand that outraged relatives and friends.

Beyond the husband’s irresponsibility, the father-in-law had long been unemployed and frequently borrowed money from the victim. When she could no longer afford to lend and refused, he began verbally abusing and bullying her. Additionally, whenever the victim returned home late from work or occasionally asked her in-laws to help care for the child, she was accused of having relationships with other men.

The friend emphasized that the victim had silently endured these hardships to provide a stable environment for her child. Only after gathering evidence of her husband’s affair did she decide to move out of her in-laws’ home and initiate divorce and legal proceedings. Tragically, while visiting the in-laws’ home during divorce negotiations to discuss child-related matters, a conflict erupted, resulting in her fatal stabbing.

The victim’s friend stressed that the husband’s family had long known about his affair but chose to cover it up and enable his behavior, subjecting the victim to prolonged psychological torment and financial exploitation. Relatives expressed profound grief and anger, urging the judicial system to punish the perpetrators severely and clarify the full truth of the incident to deliver justice for the victim and her young child.
