Summer fun never stops! The Cultural Affairs Bureau of New Taipei City Government will present the "FUN Arts Summer Outdoor Theater" at the outdoor park of New Taipei Museum of Arts from August 1 to August 23, 2024, across four consecutive weekends—every Saturday and Sunday. The event combines street art parades, Recircus Mobile Green Theater, sustainable markets, aerial circus acts, juggling experiences, and DIY crafts, inviting children and adults alike to step into the museum and share joyful summer moments through art, performance, and play.
From August 1 to 2, the "Street Art Parade" kicks off the festival with a "Walking Theater" concept that connects spaces throughout the New Taipei Museum of Arts campus. Starting at 4:30 PM, multiple street artists will perform mobile and stationary acts, guiding visitors on an artistic journey through the museum grounds, filled with delightful surprises. At the same time, the "FUN Arts Summer Market" will launch, gathering creative design brands, handmade crafts, and lifestyle goods, bringing art and everyday life together to create a vibrant summer market with cultural charm and aesthetic living.
From August 8–9, 15–16, and 22–23—the next three weekends—the "Recircus Mobile Green Theater" will take center stage. Through circus, theater, magic, music, and interactive experiences, art will be brought into public spaces, integrating sustainability into daily life. The event features three main themes: "Open Up New Mei—100 Points of Joy," "Art Experiment Playground," and "Glow Party," with programs running from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Highlights include circus stunts, magic shows, dance parties, percussion performances, bubble shows, and contemporary circus acts—rich in content and perfect for family enjoyment.
On-site activities include a sustainable market, aerial circus experiences, juggling workshops, large-scale interactive games, and creative light-and-shadow painting DIY stations. These family-friendly activities encourage children to spark creativity and artistic awareness through play, creating unforgettable summer memories. The Cultural Affairs Bureau states that the "FUN Arts Summer Outdoor Theater" transforms the outdoor public space into a stage, offering different themed activities across four weekends from August 1 to 23. Through diverse performing arts and interactive experiences, the event creates a cultural space that blends art and leisure, allowing visitors of all ages to easily and joyfully engage with art while experiencing the rich spatial charm of the museum’s outdoor park.
In addition to the outdoor theater, the B1 Exploration Base at New Taipei Museum of Arts currently hosts the exhibition "What’s Happening?", where six creators invite audiences to reflect on everyday life through performance, quilting, painting, photography, sound, video, and installation art. On the first floor, "New Mei Hua Hei Pen?" offers children and adults an immersive, multi-sensory experience. The public is invited to visit the museum, enjoy exhibitions, experience the magic of circus arts, and wander through the market, sharing the most exciting and creative summer yet.
