Another case of benzopyrene detected in camellia oil has emerged. On the evening of the 29th, the Taipei City Health Bureau announced that it had received a self-report from 'YFY Biotech Co., Ltd.', revealing that its 'Drip Gold Camellia Oil' (expiry date: May 25, 2028, 250ml) sold since July 1 tested positive for benzopyrene at 2.9ppb—exceeding the regulatory limit of 2ppb.
Immediately upon receiving the report, the Taipei City Health Bureau, in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration, conducted on-site inspections at both 'YFY Biotech Co., Ltd.' and its supplier, 'Vega International Co., Ltd.'
According to the Health Bureau, the affected batch produced a total of 924 bottles, with 500 remaining unsold and 424 already sold. Additionally, 84 bottles sold without batch identification have been fully recovered and stored in a warehouse in New Taipei City.
The product was sold not only through the company's official website but also via the online platform Books.com.tw and physical stores of GREEN & SAFE.
The Taipei City Health Bureau has ordered a full preventive recall of the camellia oil regardless of batch number. Officials were dispatched to inspect all 13 GREEN & SAFE stores in Taipei and two affiliated self-branded restaurants to verify removal and usage status. All 13 stores have completed full removal of the product. The two self-branded restaurants confirmed they had never purchased or used this batch of camellia oil.
Regarding the benzopyrene超标 incident involving certain batches of YFY Biotech's camellia oil products, Taipei City's consumer protection officers urged the company to promptly and efficiently process consumer refunds to ensure consumer rights are fully protected.
