NT$61.2 Billion Refund Deposited on July 31: Three-Tier Tax Refund Schedule

The National Taxation Bureau processes refunds in three batches annually, based on taxpayers’ filing methods and submission dates. The eligibility criteria and scheduled deposit dates for each batch are as follows:

Batch 1 (Deposited July 31, 2025)

- Online Filing: Individuals who completed online or mobile filing by June 1 (inclusive).

- Online/Voice Confirmation: Those who received a tax estimate notice and confirmed it via online registration or phone voice system by June 1.

- Paper Response: Individuals who mailed or submitted the paper tax estimate reply form to the National Tax Bureau in their registered residence area by May 11.

Batch 2 (Deposited October 30, 2025)

- Manual paper or 2D barcode filing, or submission of the paper tax estimate form after May 12.

- Submission of the paper tax estimate form to a National Tax Bureau outside the taxpayer’s registered residence by May 11.

Batch 3 (Deposited January 20, 2026)

- Late-filing cases, or cases originally filed as 'no refund, no payment' but later determined by the National Tax Bureau to be eligible for a refund.

Direct Deposit is Most Convenient! Rules and Procedures for Paper 'Refund Vouchers'

Statistics show that 98% (approximately 3.581 million cases) of recipients in this first batch chose 'direct deposit'—funds will be automatically transferred to their designated bank or post office account on July 31, with no need to leave home.

For the remaining 2% (approximately 76,000 cases) who did not provide a financial account, the National Tax Bureau will mail paper 'refund vouchers' on July 31. Recipients must redeem these between July 31, 2025, and September 30, 2025. The rules are as follows:

- Amount under NT$5,000: Present ID, personal seal, and the refund voucher at the designated payment institution (e.g., designated branch of Bank of Taiwan) to receive cash.

- Amount between NT$5,000 and under NT$20,000: Must visit a financial institution or post office to process 'check exchange' and deposit the amount into their own account before withdrawal.

- Amount NT$20,000 or more: Endorsement and transfer are legally prohibited; funds can only be deposited into the recipient’s own financial or post office account.

(Note: Recipients of paper vouchers may still apply online via the 'Ministry of Finance Tax Portal' within the designated period to switch to direct deposit, saving time otherwise spent queuing in person.)

Beware of Suspicious SMS! National Tax Bureau Warns of Common Scams

The Kaohsiung National Tax Bureau warns that scams surge during tax refund season. The tax authority will never send URL links via SMS, email, or LINE asking you to click for refund processing. They will never instruct you to operate an ATM for any transfer or withdrawal.

If you receive suspicious messages, stay alert. Do not click unknown links. Call the anti-fraud hotline at 165 or verify with your local National Tax Bureau to protect your financial security.
