KMT New Taipei mayoral candidate Lee Sichuan said today (1) in an interview that he is unaware of what contributions DPP New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui has made to the Sanying MRT Line. In response, Su Chiao-hui's campaign office spokesperson Mahehen Yizhang stated that Su Chiao-hui and legislator Wu Chi-ming jointly advocated in 2017 for the inclusion of the Sanying Line into the central government's Forward-Looking Infrastructure Program, successfully securing over NT$10 billion in funding. Su also coordinated multiple efforts to underground power cables along the route, helping to remove construction obstacles and advance the project smoothly, with all relevant records publicly verifiable.
Mahehen Yizhang emphasized that major public infrastructure projects often face budget pressures due to rising raw material prices. Su Chiao-hui and Wu Chi-ming actively lobbied the central government at the time to include the Sanying Line in the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Program, securing over NT$10 billion in funding, which effectively accelerated project progress. He noted that this has been widely reported by the media over the years and is well known among residents of Sanxia and Yingge.
Additionally, Mahehen Yizhang stated that during the construction of the Sanying Line, Su Chiao-hui repeatedly coordinated solutions to engineering issues such as cable undergrounding, helping to eliminate construction obstacles and ensure smooth progress. All related documentation is publicly available for verification.
Regarding Lee Sichuan's remarks, Mahehen Yizhang also pointed out that when former President Tsai Ing-wen promoted the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Program, the KMT obstructed its legislative review by throwing water balloons and flour in the legislature. Lee Sichuan's current denial of these achievements shows a lack of understanding of the development process behind New Taipei's major infrastructure projects.
Mahehen Yizhang stressed that Su Chiao-hui has always believed that major infrastructure projects are the result of joint efforts between central and local governments. She remains committed to running a positive and rational campaign, avoiding personal attacks, and hopes the election can focus on policy and municipal vision, returning to substantive platform discussions to secure more development and well-being for New Taipei citizens.
