The cross-regional borrowing network of the New Taipei City Public Library has expanded once again! Following collaborations with Taipei City, Keelung City, and Taoyuan City, the 'One Card Service' has now extended to Hsinchu County. Starting today, residents of New Taipei City and Hsinchu County can use a single library card to borrow books across both regions, accessing physical collections, e-books, and various library services. This expansion brings the service to five counties in northern Taiwan, benefiting over 4 million cardholders and further integrating the reading ecosystem across northern Taiwan.

Today (the 3rd), the official launch of the 'One Card Service' between New Taipei City and Hsinchu County was announced, witnessed by Deputy Secretary-General Gong Ya-wen of New Taipei City and Secretary-General Li An-you of Hsinchu County. After completing online registration, residents can use the same library card to borrow books from public libraries in both regions, access e-book resources, and enjoy all library services. This marks the formal extension of cross-regional borrowing services to five counties in northern Taiwan, realizing the vision of 'One Card, Boundless Reading'.

Deputy Secretary-General Gong Ya-wen of New Taipei City stated that since 2017, the city has progressively partnered with Keelung City, Taipei City, and Taoyuan City to promote cross-county library sharing services, gradually building a shared reading network across northern Taiwan. With the high-speed rail connecting the regions, New Taipei and Hsinchu have formed a close 'Beizhu One-Day Living Circle'. To further enhance the cross-regional reading service network in northern Taiwan, the 'One Card Service' officially expanded to Hsinchu County starting in August. This not only makes cross-county access to reading resources more convenient but also marks a new milestone for the northern Taiwan reading ecosystem.

New Taipei City continues to build a city of reading, currently operating 107 public libraries—the most service locations among all counties in Taiwan. In recent years, in addition to promoting cross-county reading sharing services, the city has invested over NT$1 billion from 2019 to 2025 to construct eight new public libraries and renovate 56 existing ones. The construction of the Second Main Branch of the New Taipei City Public Library is also ongoing. Through simultaneous upgrades of reading spaces, collection resources, and smart services, the city continues to enhance its service capacity, creating a more convenient and diverse reading ecosystem.

To encourage residents to experience cross-regional reading services, the New Taipei City Public Library and Hsinchu County Public Library have jointly launched the 'Dual-City Reading e Together' campaign. Residents who complete the 'One Card Service' registration, borrow e-books, and meet specified conditions will have the chance to enter a lucky draw, with prizes including e-book readers and e-book gift vouchers.
