After last Friday's epic rally, Taiwan's stock market (TWSE) extended its upward trend today (3rd), albeit at a moderated pace. The market closed up 266.66 points at 43,386.41. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Stock Index Futures (TX) shifted from a significant premium to a discount, signaling cautious sentiment. Institutional investors collectively sold 18.776 billion NT dollars.

Unlike last Friday's 'indiscriminate surge,' today's market saw clear sector rotation. Large-cap tech stocks diverged sharply—TSMC, the market heavyweight, fell over 2%, while MediaTek surged to the daily limit at the opening. Passive components, memory, ABF substrates, semiconductor packaging and testing, AI servers, and electronic equipment supply chains performed strongly.

Market analysts noted early signs of stabilization and emphasized monitoring capital flows between hot sectors and volume support.

Post-session data showed institutional investors sold a net 18.776 billion NT dollars: foreign investors sold 19.191 billion, proprietary traders sold 20.653 billion, while investment trusts bought 21.068 billion.

Analyzing TX futures positions, foreign investors increased their net short positions by 7,523 contracts to 90,038. Among the top ten traders, 'designated legal entities' increased their full-month net short positions by 11,494 contracts, turning to a net short of 6,096 contracts.

For options open interest, August call options peaked at 55,000 points, puts at 34,000 points. For August Week 1 (W1), calls peaked at 46,500, puts at 40,000. The full-month put/call ratio declined from 1.07 to 0.98. Foreign investors' net position in TX call options was -64 million NT dollars, and +29 million NT dollars in puts.
