Major blue-chip stocks showed mixed performance. TSMC (2330), the leader in semiconductor manufacturing, fell to 2,380 with a 50-point (1.86%) decline. Foxconn (2317), another major manufacturer, dropped to 247, down 1.5 (1.00%). MediaTek (2454), a major IC design company, surged to 3,910, up 355 (9.99%), hitting the daily limit. Quanta Computer (2382) rose to 294, up 2.5 (0.86%), and ChipMOS Technologies (3711) increased to 610, up 55 (9.91%). Financial stocks saw declines, with Fubon Financial (2881) falling to 127.5, down 2 (1.92%), and Cathay Financial (2882) dropping to 98.7, down 2.5 (1.97%). Driven by MediaTek's surge, semiconductor, memory, and electronic component stocks became the focus of early trading. Many individual stocks hit the daily limit or approached it, showing strong performance. Specifically, Hontex (2344) rose to 143, up 13 (10.00%), Nan Ya Tech (2408) increased to 396.5, up 36 (9.99%), ChipMOS Technologies (3006) surged to 198, up 18 (10.00%), and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (2327) rose to 552, up 50 (9.96%). Chanhsin Electronics (2059) hit the limit at 8,635, up 785 (10.00%), and Inotera Memories (3443) surged to 4,185, up 380 (9.99%). Chunghwa Picture Tubes (2455) rose to 321, up 29 (9.93%), and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (2368) increased to 872, up 79 (9.96%).
