The Shui-Nan Transfer Center will open on August 5, ushering in a new era for public transportation in Taichung. To provide convenient transfer services for residents and connect key nodes such as the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, Green & Beauty Map, Shui-Nan Economic and Trade Park, Taichung International Airport, and HSR Taichung Station, the Taichung City Government Transportation Bureau has arranged for nine city bus routes — 25, 54, 82 (including extension), 108, 156, 354, 555, 675, and the 'Green & Beauty Map–Convention Center Shuttle' — to enter the transfer center starting August 6. The bureau will also coordinate the extension of Route 23 to the Central Taiwan Science Park Management Office, building a comprehensive public transportation network for the Shui-Nan Economic and Trade Park.
Transportation Bureau Director Yeh Zhao-fu stated that major developments in the Shui-Nan Economic and Trade Park have been progressively completed. With the operation of the Green & Beauty Map and Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center attracting large numbers of visitors for exhibitions and events, demand for public transportation continues to grow. Since October of last year, the city government has adjusted bus routes during large-scale events and exhibitions to improve transportation efficiency. Now, in conjunction with the opening of the Shui-Nan Transfer Center, key routes originating or terminating nearby and connecting major nodes will be consolidated into the center. This not only makes transfers easier for passengers but also provides better rest facilities for bus drivers, enhancing overall operational quality.
Starting August 6, nine city bus routes will enter the center. Among them, seven are important routes either starting/ending near the center or passing through the park: Route 25 via Feng Chia University and downtown, Route 54 across Li-Ming Road, Routes 82 and 108 to Taichung Station, Route 354 to Tunghai University, Route 675 linking the city hall and Longjing, and the newly launched 'Green & Beauty Map–Convention Center Shuttle,' offering residents more convenient access to major attractions, commercial districts, and residential areas.
Additionally, to strengthen external connectivity, the bureau has arranged for two express bus routes to simultaneously enter the center: Route 555 between Taichung International Airport and MRT Wenhua Senior High School Station, and Route 156 directly serving HSR Taichung Station. Travelers can quickly connect between air, rail, and metro systems and take advantage of the underground parking facility, significantly improving transfer efficiency. The integration between the Shui-Nan Economic and Trade Park, the city center, and major national transportation hubs becomes more seamless. Drivers coming from various locations to Taichung International Airport can now park at the underground parking lot of the Shui-Nan Transfer Center and take Route 555 from the first-floor platform directly to the airport, helping alleviate parking pressure around the airport.
Yeh explained that after its opening, the Shui-Nan Transfer Center will become a key interchange point between Taichung’s city buses and intercity coaches. In the future, it can further integrate with commuting demands from the neighboring Central Taiwan Science Park, maximizing public transportation benefits. In addition to the nine entering routes, the city has coordinated with Ubus to extend Route 23 to the Central Taiwan Science Park Management Office, serving residents in Shui-Nan, CTSP, and surrounding areas.
The Transportation Bureau will continue monitoring passenger usage, bus ridership, and surrounding traffic conditions after the center opens. It will maintain close cooperation with all bus operators, continuously reviewing route configurations and stopping patterns, evaluating the feasibility of additional routes entering the center, and gradually expanding public transportation services. By fully leveraging the transfer hub function of the Shui-Nan Transfer Center, the bureau aims to provide citizens and travelers with safer, more convenient, and comfortable public transportation services, completing a comprehensive and sustainable urban transportation network.
The bureau reminds the public that starting August 6, the nine city bus routes will enter the Shui-Nan Transfer Center. For more information on route adjustments, please visit the 'Taichung Bus Real-Time Information' website or use the 'Taichung Go' app.
