Southern Taiwan's retail market is about to welcome a major new landmark. Following locations in Taichung and Taipei Nangang, Mitsui Fudosan has officially announced its third 'Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport' in Fengshan, Kaohsiung. This will be the first LaLaport in southern Taiwan and currently the largest purely Japanese-style shopping center in Taiwan. The mall will integrate shopping, dining, entertainment, and cultural experiences, aiming to attract around 270 brands, including the Korean immersive art museum ARTE MUSEUM. Regarding the much-anticipated opening date, Mitsui Fudosan has shared the latest progress.

2026 Kaohsiung LaLaport: Opening Date, 270 Brands, and ARTE MUSEUM Highlights

LaLaport Kaohsiung is located in the Guotai redevelopment zone in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung City. Mitsui Fudosan leased approximately 1.3 hectares of land from Taiwan Sugar Corporation and secured a 30-year ground lease. The site will feature a seven-story building above ground and two underground levels, with a total floor area of about 62,000 ping, surpassing both Taichung LaLaport and LaLaport Nangang in scale, making it the largest Japanese-style shopping center in Taiwan.

Fengshan District is one of Kaohsiung's most populous administrative areas but has long lacked a large-scale regional shopping center. The arrival of LaLaport is expected to fill this gap and is seen as a key development to boost commercial growth in eastern Kaohsiung.

The mall site is situated at the intersection of Guotai 2nd Road and Ziyou Road, close to the Fengshan West Station on the Kaohsiung MRT Orange Line. It is also conveniently located near the Weiwuying National Arts and Culture Center. Additionally, the under-construction Yellow Line MRT will pass through the area, creating a dual-MRT advantage.

Moreover, the mall is near the National Highway No. 1 interchange, expected to attract shoppers from Kaohsiung City, Fengshan, Daliao, and Pingtung. It will integrate commercial, cultural, and leisure districts, driving surrounding development.

The mall plans to host around 270 brands, covering international fashion, Japanese lifestyle brands, dining, food courts, and diverse entertainment facilities, creating a large-scale mixed-use shopping destination. Building on the LaLaport series' signature features, the brand mix will be tailored to Kaohsiung's consumer market, offering a comprehensive space for daily shopping, family leisure, dining, and entertainment.

Local Kaohsiung dining brand Hanlai Cuisine is confirmed to join, adding more culinary diversity.

Another highlight of LaLaport Kaohsiung is the official entry of ARTE MUSEUM, a renowned Korean immersive art gallery.

ARTE MUSEUM is created by the internationally acclaimed digital art team d'strict, centered around the theme 'Eternal Nature.' It features a five-sensory immersive art experience using massive LED displays, 3D surround sound, and custom scent design.

The team gained global fame for the large-scale LED wave art installation at COEX in Seoul. The Kaohsiung branch will incorporate local cultural elements into its exhibitions, potentially becoming southern Taiwan's most iconic new art destination.

Originally expected to open in the third quarter of 2026, the official opening date has not yet been announced. According to NOWNEWS, Mitsui Fudosan stated that the mall's structural construction is nearly complete, with scaffolding being gradually removed. The company is now actively processing building use permits and related reviews. The official opening date, brand tenant list, and future operational details will be announced by Mitsui Fudosan after the use permit is obtained.
