Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior recently held a press conference announcing it will petition the Constitutional Court to dissolve the 'Chinese Unification Promotion Party.' On August 5, the Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) of China issued a statement condemning the move, asserting that advocating for national unification aligns with national righteousness, is lawful and just, and accusing the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government of political suppression and intensifying 'green terror.' The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) responded on August 5, stating: (1) The Ministry of the Interior clearly explained at its July 30 press conference that there are three reasons for the petition to dissolve the Unification Promotion Party: First, the party accepted funding from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to interfere in elections, developed espionage networks, recruited military personnel and Chinese spouses, and infiltrated temples and radio stations for united front and cognitive warfare operations. Second, the party conducted cross-border suppression through violent attacks within Taiwan. Third, the party has numerous criminal records, with 141 core members and party members investigated and 98 cases uncovered to date. (2) The Ministry of the Interior's legal petition to dissolve the Unification Promotion Party aims to safeguard Taiwan's social order and democratic system. The TAO's politicization of this matter is an attempt to confuse public perception.

Chen Bin-hua, spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, issued a written response to journalists on August 5, strongly condemning the DPP's action as an effort to suppress political dissent based on its 'Taiwan independence' nature and to strengthen 'green terror.' The TAO reiterated that advocating for national unification and opposing 'Taiwan independence' separatism and foreign interference is in line with national righteousness, conforms to historical trends, and is lawful and just.

Chen stated that advocating for national unification and opposing 'Taiwan independence' separatism and foreign interference is consistent with national righteousness, aligns with historical trends, and is lawful and just. The DPP, driven by its 'Taiwan independence' nature, is attempting to forcibly dissolve related political parties to suppress political dissent and strengthen 'green terror,' which we strongly condemn. The TAO urged Taiwan's society to recognize the DPP authorities' true 'Taiwan independence' nature and jointly oppose their abuse of power and political manipulation.

In response to the TAO's statement, the MAC issued a statement on August 5:

(1) As clearly explained by the Ministry of the Interior at its July 30 press conference, there are three reasons for petitioning the dissolution of the Unification Promotion Party: First, the party accepted CCP funding to interfere in elections, developed espionage networks, recruited military personnel and Chinese spouses, and infiltrated temples and radio stations for united front and cognitive warfare. Second, the party conducted cross-border suppression through violent attacks within Taiwan. Third, the party has numerous criminal records, with 141 core members and party members investigated and 98 cases uncovered to date.

(2) The Ministry of the Interior's legal petition to dissolve the Unification Promotion Party is a measure to safeguard Taiwan's social order and the functioning of its democratic system. The TAO's politicization of this issue is entirely an attempt to confuse public perception.
