The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) held its 'Action Central Standing Committee' meeting in Taichung today (5th). President Lai Qingde, who also serves as party chair, criticized Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen's governance, stating during a comparison of central Taiwan mayors' performance that Lu was 'barely better than Changhua County Mayor.' This remark unexpectedly drew Changhua County Mayor Wang Huimei into the fray. She responded on Facebook in the evening, sarcastically posting, 'Mr. President, you finally remembered Changhua!'

Why did Lai Qingde mention Wang Huimei? Lai stated that Taichung, with its seaport and airport, has not met citizens' expectations in governance. Comparing several central county mayors, he said Lu's performance was 'barely better than Changhua County Mayor's,' urging Taichung, a 'swing county,' to 'swing again at year-end and try a different person and party.'

Wang Huimei responded on Facebook that 'the Executive Yuan hasn't reported to the President, so the President doesn't deeply understand many things!' She emphasized, 'In my heart, Changhua people winning is the true victory!'

Which Changhua development projects are stalled? Wang listed several: the Erlin Precision Machinery Park development has been shelved for eight years due to environmental review; the county's proposal to take over Mingdao University has not been approved by the Ministry of Education; the Changjiao Special Zone Urban Plan, crucial for Changhua's development, has been submitted to the Ministry of the Interior for the fifth time; and the Changhua metro network has yet to be approved by the Ministry of Transportation. She repeatedly asked, 'President Lai, do you know this?'

Changhua Dome Still Under Review – Wang Calls on Central Government for Support

Wang stated that Changhua proposed building a 'Dome' in the Changjiao Special Zone two years ago. While New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung have since launched similar plans, Changhua's proposal remains under review at the Ministry of the Interior. She called on President Lai to 'pay more attention to Changhua's development,' urging the central government to help remove obstacles. She emphasized, 'With your support and encouragement, Changhua's transformation will succeed!'
