The Miaoli Yuchiengong Temple Foundation donated NT$5 million today to the Miaoli County Government for "Vulnerable Family Services and Long-Term Care Resources." County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin thanked the temple for its charitable contributions, highlighting that this is the fourth consecutive donation supporting emergency assistance for vulnerable families, amounting to a total of NT$20 million. As of the end of July in year 115 (2026), 1,514 households in crisis have been assisted.
Dedicated to Lord Guan (Guansheng Dijun), Miaoli Yuchiengong Temple is a major center of faith in Miaoli. Every year, ahead of Lord Guan’s birthday, the temple allocates funds from devotee offerings to conduct emergency relief and charitable donation campaigns. These include donations of rice, daily necessities, fire communication equipment, ambulances, and rehabilitation buses, actively supporting county development and caring for those in need.
Today, the 24th day of the 6th lunar month, coincides with the 1,867th birthday of Lord Guan. Chairman Wei Chun-chieh and all board members specially donated NT$5 million to the Miaoli County Government this morning. The donation was accepted by County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin, Social Affairs Director Chang Kuo-tung, and Long-Term Care Director Chuang Su-ling. In return, the magistrate presented a glass plaque inscribed with "Yu En Guang Bu, Qing Fu Jin Yan" (Great kindness widely bestowed, blessings extended through generations) to express deep appreciation for the temple’s long-standing selfless contributions to the local community.
This morning, Magistrate Chung led officials including Civil Affairs Director Wu Chih-wei, Social Affairs Director Chang Kuo-tung, Long-Term Care Director Chuang Su-ling, Council Speaker Lee Wen-pin, Deputy Speaker’s Secretary Chang Shu-fen, Councilors Yang Ming-yeh, Sun Su-ou, Hsu Ying-ping, Hsu Hsiao-ching, and Miaoli City Mayor Yu Wen-chung in paying respects at the temple.
Magistrate Chung expressed his gratitude for Yuchiengong Temple’s long-term charitable work, emphasizing how religious faith provides stability and positive strength by aiding the disadvantaged. He explained that of the NT$5 million donation, NT$3 million will be used to assist marginalized households with emergency relief and poverty alleviation services, while NT$2 million will subsidize caregiving, transportation, consumables, and assistive devices for economically disadvantaged seniors during institutional care.
To celebrate Lord Guan’s birthday, the temple invited a master爆米香 (puffed rice candy) artisan with 60 years of experience to make "Happiness Puffed Rice Candy" with Magistrate Chung and Chairman Wei in the temple courtyard. The treats were then shared with visiting devotees alongside a cake and strawberry smoothies offered by Magistrate Chung. The venue was filled with fragrance, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere.
Chairman Wei Chun-chieh stated that Yuchiengong Temple, upholding the great love spirit of Lord Guan, donated NT$5 million to the Miaoli County Government to assist low-income and vulnerable impoverished families, hoping they receive proper care. He also hopes this act will serve as an inspiration, encouraging more people to join hands in charitable endeavors.
Magistrate Chung extended birthday greetings to Lord Guan and wished Yuchiengong Temple continued prosperity. He added that he welcomes any other temples wishing to collaborate with the county government on charitable initiatives, assuring full support from the county administration and a commitment to ensure every dollar is spent effectively to help those in need.
