Former U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized today that the United States still possesses vast ammunition stockpiles and threatened to hold legally accountable those spreading claims of U.S. ammunition shortages.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), Trump criticized media reports about dwindling U.S. weapons inventories on his social media platform 'Truth Social.' He stated that the U.S. has 'massive amounts of "ammunition," especially certain types,' though he did not elaborate on specifics.

He added: 'Moreover, massive quantities of ammunition are being manufactured on demand and shipped to the U.S. Defense companies are building factories at a scale unprecedented in our nation’s history.'

The Washington Post had previously reported that Trump convened a cabinet meeting last month at Camp David, the presidential retreat, where he asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to explain the ammunition shortage issue.

Citing two anonymous sources, The Post claimed Trump told Hegseth he had assumed the ammunition problem was 'already solved.'

However, Trump lashed out at these reports today, asserting that authorities are now investigating individuals who leaked what he called 'treasonous' statements to the media. He vowed to seek long prison sentences for such leakers.
