The 'Han Kuang 42' live-fire exercise entered its second day today (6th), with the Third Combat Zone conducting a roadblock drill at Danjiang Bridge—a critical infrastructure that opened earlier this year. The 53rd Engineer Group deployed steel hedgehogs, gabion wire fences, and HESCO mobile barriers to construct three layers of defense lines, aiming to prevent a hypothetical enemy force from using Danjiang Bridge to launch a direct assault from the Tamsui side into the political and economic core.
Since its opening, Danjiang Bridge has become a transportation hub connecting Tamsui and Bali, and a focal point for river defense at the Tamsui River estuary. In coordination with this year's Han Kuang exercise, the military conducted its first-ever roadblock drill at Danjiang Bridge, simulating a scenario in which a fictional enemy force attempts to rush into Taipei's central core via the bridge from the Taipei Port area in Bali.
The Third Combat Zone's engineering units set up roadblock defense structures using steel hedgehogs, gabion wire fences, and HESCO mobile barriers. They also integrated civilian heavy machinery, such as cranes, to enable rapid deployment, verifying the effectiveness of civil-military integration. Meanwhile, four CM11 tanks were stationed beneath Danjiang Bridge to provide armed deterrence and engage any enemy vessels attempting to pass underneath.
