Families now have a new summer destination! Taiwan’s largest semi-outdoor 'Kaohsiung Family Recreation Zone' will grandly open on August 8. Covering 1.5 hectares, the site was revitalized from the former Taiwan Railway Kaohsiung Depot and features more than 30 types of recreational facilities. For the first time, a full-scale 1:1 model of the new Kaohsiung Metro Yellow Line train will be unveiled for public viewing and experience. Additionally, during four consecutive weekend holidays in August, an outdoor water park will be specially added, with free admission and unlimited access to all attractions for visitors of all ages—expected to draw massive crowds.

To manage the large influx of visitors during the opening period, police will conduct traffic control at key intersections nearby. The Kaohsiung City Government has also released a detailed 'Transportation Guide,' strongly recommending the use of public transportation so families and friends can enjoy the final days of summer together!

'Kaohsiung Family Recreation Zone' Offers Over 30 All-Age Attractions! Featuring Taiwan’s First 'Cloud Trampoline'

Breaking away from traditional children-only playgrounds, the zone adopts a semi-indoor design that provides shade and rain protection, offering dedicated leisure spaces for toddlers, teens, and seniors alike:

- Extreme Fitness Challenge Zone: Features Taiwan’s first 'Bubble Cloud Trampoline,' a 'Pump Track Wave Riding Course' designed for cyclists and skateboarders, aerial ropes, net climbing, parkour practice areas, and bouldering walls. - Sensory & Water Play Zone for Young Children: Includes low-risk play areas, diverse swings, slides, sensory experience zones, and refreshing water play areas. - Integration of Railway Cultural Heritage: The old gantry crane has been transformed into a climbing net; historical tracks repurposed for human-powered rail carts. In the future, vintage train carriages will house specialty shops and host heritage tours, preserving industrial memories.

Public Transportation Guide to 'Kaohsiung Family Recreation Zone'

- Kaohsiung Light Rail: Ride to Kaisyuan-Wuchang Station; exit directly into the park—the city government’s top-recommended and most convenient option. - MRT + Free Shuttle Bus (Weekend-Only in August): Take the Orange Line to Cultural Center Station, exit via Exit 3, and transfer to the August-only free shuttle bus (every 20 minutes) for direct access to the park. - MRT and Bus Transfer: Take the Red Line to Sanchong Shopping District Station, then transfer to City Bus Route 100. - City Bus: Take Route 100 to the 'Railway Machine Plant' stop. During weekends, an additional 'Route 100 Shuttle' operates between Ruifeng Station and Dayeh Department Store / MRT Sanchong Shopping District Station.

Driving and Motorbike Access to 'Kaohsiung Family Recreation Zone'

For those driving, motorbikes should enter through the original 'Taiwan Railway Kaohsiung Depot Main Gate.' Car drivers can use paid small-vehicle parking lots located on Wuqing 2nd Road and Ersheng Road.

Police remind visitors that to maintain smooth traffic flow, vehicles should enter via right turns only. Left turns may be flexibly restricted depending on real-time conditions. Visitors coming westbound via Zicai Road should turn left at the Wuqing 2nd Road intersection and head to the 'Wuqing 2nd Road Second Parking Lot.' Those arriving from Yongfeng Road in Qianzhen District or Xinfu Road in Fengshan District should proceed to the 'Ersheng Road Parking Lot' and enter in the designated direction. If the park’s parking lots are full, on-site police will implement flexible traffic controls—drivers must follow their instructions.

Nearby Hotels Launch 'Energy Recharge Packages'! Family Stay (2 adults + 2 children) from NT$3,000/night

In celebration of the new attraction’s opening, the 'Kaohsiung Fuyeo Resort Hotel,' just three light rail stops from the park, has launched a special 'Energy Recharge Family Stay Package':
