On August 5, a serious campus violence incident occurred at a junior high school in Taichung City. A first-year student with emotional disorders lost control during a summer science camp class and attacked the teacher with a broken broom handle, causing severe eye injuries that may lead to blindness.

In response to the incident, Public Television Service (PTS) interviewed Tseng Fang-yuan, director of the Taichung office of the Humanistic Education Foundation, on the 7th, seeking her opinion. Tseng responded that teachers should understand students' stress points and emotional reactions to such incidents, and develop strategies to help calm the children or adjust their environment.

The foundation's statement immediately triggered widespread backlash online. Netizens criticized it on social media, saying, "To Humanistic Education, students are never wrong—teachers are always the problem," "I hate how they only speak from a comfortable position," "The 'human' in Humanistic doesn't include teachers," and "Do these people even have any on-site teaching experience?"

In response, legislator Yeh Yuan-chih posted on Facebook, condemning the foundation. He said, "The Humanistic Education Foundation is truly an anti-teacher group. When a teacher in Taichung is attacked by a student and faces possible blindness, they don't defend the teacher—instead, they spout unrealistic nonsense."

Yeh criticized the foundation's suggestion that teachers should understand student records, connect with school support systems, collaborate across departments, and involve parents and school authorities to protect the rights of both teachers and students. He questioned: "Are they implying the teacher was at fault for not doing enough? If they're so capable, why don't they try teaching themselves?"

Yeh emphasized that the foundation's own school charges an exorbitant tuition fee of NT$180,000 per semester, with a student-teacher ratio of 1:5, effectively using tuition to screen students. He challenged the foundation: "Why don't you lower your tuition to public school levels before lecturing public school teachers? This is a classic case of 'standing and talking without back pain!' Let the DPP legislators keep defending them if they want."
