The Tainan Team has officially mobilized and is moving forward steadily! The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Tainan City Party convened a 'Joint Election Strategy Meeting for Tainan Mayoral and Councilor Candidates' this afternoon (9th). The meeting was co-chaired by Huang Weizhe, Tainan City Mayor and Director of the Campaign Headquarters, and Lin Chih-chan, Chief of Staff, with Chen Ming-wen, Chief Supervisor for Yun-Chia-Chia-Nan, personally attending to provide guidance. The meeting formally confirmed the organizational structure of the campaign headquarters and the overall election strategy moving forward.
Chen Ting-fei, DPP mayoral candidate for Tainan, stated, 'The Tainan Team has officially mobilized. The most important thing now is unity, cooperation, and steady progress. Mayoral and councilor candidates must support each other and fight together, making the Tainan Team the most powerful campaign force. We will win in 2026, and win again in 2028!'
Lai Qingde as Honorary Chair, Huang Weizhe as Chair: A Unified Force Across Generations and Levels
Chen emphasized that the campaign headquarters structure features President Lai Qingde as Honorary Director, symbolizing the baton-passing continuity of Tainan's governance. Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe serves as Director, with legislators Lai Hui-yen, Kuo Kuo-wen, Lin Yi-chin, Lin Chun-hsien, Wang Ting-yu, and Tainan City Council Speaker Chiu Li-li serving as Deputy Directors. Lin Chih-chan is Chief of Staff, Chen Yi-chen is Executive Chief of Staff, and Deputy Chiefs of Staff are jointly held by city councilors and councilor candidates, integrating central, local, and grassroots forces.
Chen noted that this campaign team list represents more than just an organizational chart—it symbolizes the unity of different generations, regions, and central-local forces within the Tainan Team. Facing the 2026 election, everyone shares one common goal: to fight for Tainan and strive for a better future for its citizens. The 2026 election is not just a single contest, but a crucial battle to sustain Tainan’s development and lay the groundwork for 2028.
'Elections are a team sport. Mayoral and councilor candidates are teammates on the Tainan Team,' Chen said. Moving forward, the campaign will continue to connect every candidate’s strength through joint actions, policy exchanges, and local services. Mayoral and councilor candidates will walk and fight together, maximizing impact at the local level and forming the most solid Tainan Team.
Beyond election coordination, the Tainan City Party and the mayoral campaign headquarters will further engage families and communities. On September 5 and 6, they will jointly host the 'Generations United: Grandparent-Grandchild Fun Day' to celebrate the DPP’s 928 Party Anniversary. In addition to family-friendly activities led by Chen Ting-fei, Party Chair Lin Chih-chan will mobilize party members across generations to bring their families together for a joyful 'homecoming' event. Through diverse programming, the party celebration will transcend politics to become a multigenerational family gathering.
Chen emphasized that politics should not be limited to serious policy debates and election tactics—it should also bring warmth and laughter, and be accessible to people of all ages and generations. Through the Grandparent-Grandchild Fun Day, she hopes to bring politics from the campaign trail into homes and daily life, allowing different generations to find ways to engage in public affairs and experience the warmth of Tainan as a city.
Chen stressed, 'The Tainan Team is ready!' From now on, they will move forward step by step with stability. Mayoral and councilor candidates will support each other and fight side by side, transforming unity from a slogan into concrete action—striving for a better future for Tainan’s citizens and writing a new chapter for Tainan’s next phase.
