The Pacific Ocean is witnessing a rare 'three-typhoon coexistence' phenomenon once again. The Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced that the tropical depression located north of Guam has intensified into the 16th typhoon of the year, named 'Peilou' (PEILOU), at 2:00 PM today (9th). According to the forecast track, Peilou will move eastward to northeastward and will not have a direct impact on Taiwan.
Typhoon No. 16 'Peilou' formed this afternoon, marking the return of a 'three-typhoon standoff' over the ocean surface. The CWA has released the latest typhoon path projections.
According to the CWA's typhoon bulletin, at 2:00 PM today, Peilou's center was located at 21.3 degrees north latitude and 142.7 degrees east longitude, moving eastward at 28 km/h. The central pressure is 998 hPa, with maximum sustained winds near the center reaching 18 m/s, and the average radius of gale-force winds (7-level) extending 80 km.
Currently, three typhoons are simultaneously active over the northwestern Pacific Ocean:
1. Typhoon Dolphin (No. 13): The only typhoon currently affecting weather conditions around Taiwan.
2. Typhoon Chan-hom (No. 15): At 2:00 PM today, its center was located approximately 1,110 km southeast of Tokyo (about 2,980 km northeast of Taipei), moving northwest at 6 to 17 km/h. It is expected to reach a point 940 km east of Tokyo by 8:00 AM tomorrow (10th). It poses no threat to Taiwan.
3. Typhoon Peilou (No. 16): Newly formed this afternoon. It is forecast to continue moving eastward to northeastward, with no direct impact on Taiwan.
