North Coast development is accelerating! New Taipei mayoral candidate and legislator Su Chiao-hui held a grassroots forum today (9th) with New Taipei council candidate You Ming-yan. Over a hundred supporters attended, chanting 'New Taipei, Hui Wins!' and 'You Ming-yan, number one!', demonstrating strong local support.
Su Chiao-hui stated that You Ming-yan has ten years of experience as a legislative and local affairs aide, has long been rooted in Tamsui, Bali, Sijhih, and Shimen, and is an action-oriented figure who is 'reachable and capable of solving problems.' If elected mayor, she will work with You to promote a medical district and smart technology industrial cluster in the Tamhai New Town, supplementing healthcare capacity in the North Coast and creating local employment opportunities so that young people can stay in their hometowns to work and start families.
Advancing Healthcare, AI Industry, and Port Development: 'New Crown Coast Plan' Upgraded
Su Chiao-hui pointed out that the North Coast is vast, with Tamsui, Bali, Sijhih, and Shimen each possessing development potential. However, to elevate the region as a whole, coordinated efforts from central and local governments and the city council are essential. She emphasized the need for a new generation of dedicated representatives in the council. You Ming-yan has long served the community, and if elected, he can form a more comprehensive local service network with the city administration to secure more construction projects and resources for the North Coast.
On industrial development, Su proposed the 'Tamsui Smart Science Industrial Cluster,' focusing on emerging technologies such as AI, autonomous driving, and robotics to build a 'North Coast Smart Technology Core Zone.' She noted that Tamsui has advantages in land, talent, and transportation. The second phase of the Tamhai New Town offers large, contiguous development areas, and proximity to universities provides access to talent. With the upcoming completion of the Danjiang Bridge, Tamsui will be connected to Taipei Port, Taoyuan Airport, and surrounding tech clusters, creating ideal conditions for a smart technology industrial corridor.
Su stressed that industrial policy must not only attract businesses but also create local employment for youth. By developing emerging industries such as AI, autonomous driving, and robotics, and aligning academic talent with industry needs, the North Coast can evolve beyond being a residential satellite of Taipei into a core development zone with integrated industry, employment, and living functions.
Healthcare is another key policy Su highlighted at the forum. She noted that the population in Tamsui and the North Coast continues to grow, but large-scale medical capacity remains insufficient. She previously succeeded in amending the 'Tamhai Medical Subzone' in the Legislative Yuan, a crucial step toward establishing major medical facilities in the area. If elected mayor, she will continue advancing plans for a medical district in Tamhai New Town, enabling residents of Tamsui, Sijhih, and other North Coast areas to access comprehensive healthcare locally and saving critical rescue time for emergency and critical patients.
Beyond Tamsui, Su also presented a development vision for Bali Port. She emphasized that Taipei Port is a key node for industrial transformation in the North Coast. Future plans include advancing port development and land reclamation, increasing earthwork processing capacity while creating more industrial land. This will allow Bali and Tamsui to form a new technology industrial corridor, further connecting with existing clusters in Wugu, Xinzhuang, and Linkou to expand the North Coast's industrial hinterland and employment opportunities.
On tourism, Su reiterated the vision of the 'New Crown Coast Plan,' treating the coastal areas of Bali, Tamsui, Sijhih, and Shimen as an integrated mountain-sea tourism corridor. The plan advances in three directions: 'making good use of the ocean, building transportation corridors, and revitalizing facilities.' It aims to improve harbors and waterfront amenities, enhance bicycle and public transit networks, and revitalize沿线 venues and visitor centers. By integrating the North Coast’s natural, cultural, and industrial resources, the plan seeks to build an internationally recognizable tourism brand.
At the event, Su paid tribute to democracy activists Li Yong-dong, Zhou Qing-yuan, Xu Bo, and Guo Chun. She stated that Taiwan's current freedom and democracy were achieved through the lifelong efforts of previous generations, and the new generation has the responsibility to carry the torch forward. 'Our predecessors have fought for decades—from 30 to 40 years ago until now. Now it's our turn to take over.'
Su emphasized that the new generation must shoulder the responsibilities of a new era—not only safeguarding Taiwan but also driving New Taipei forward. She and You Ming-yan will continue to deepen their grassroots engagement, work diligently, and transform the spirit of the predecessors into action in the next phase, advancing comprehensive development in healthcare, industry, transportation, and tourism to secure more construction projects for the North Coast and ushering in new development opportunities for Tamsui, Bali, Sijhih, and Shimen.
The event was attended by Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General He Zhi-wei, legislator Guo Yu-qing, New Taipei councilors Dai Wei-shan, Zhang Jin-hao, Lin Bing-you, Taipei councilor Zhong Pei-ling, and New Taipei council candidate Zhang Zhi-hao, who joined local supporters in endorsing Su and You, showcasing unity across New Taipei and the North Coast region.
