Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui announced that the resignation of National History Museum Director Chen I-shen has been approved. On the 10th, the President appointed Chen Tsui-lan as the new Director of the National History Museum, effective September 14.
Kuo Ya-hui explained that Chen Tsui-lan is currently a Distinguished Professor in the Department of History at National Taiwan University. She previously worked at media outlets such as the Liberty Times and China Times, accumulating extensive observational experience on Taiwan's democratic constitutional development. She later transitioned into academia, serving at Tamkang University, National Chengchi University, and National Taiwan University, where she has long been engaged in teaching and research on Taiwan's political history.
Kuo further stated that while pursuing academic work, Chen Tsui-lan has actively participated in transitional justice initiatives. She has served as a consultant to the National History Museum, a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Human Rights Museum under the Ministry of Culture, and a committee member of the Transitional Justice Promotion Fund, providing professional advisory input. She is recognized as an outstanding scholar with both profound academic expertise and substantial practical experience.
Kuo added that Professor Chen is currently still teaching at National Taiwan University and will assume her new role after completing the secondment procedures. It is believed that with Professor Chen's leadership, the National History Museum will be able to fully leverage its institutional functions and inject new momentum into the compilation, research, and editing of Taiwan's historical materials.
