Taiwan's richest person title has changed hands once again. According to the updated Forbes billionaire list released on the 10th, Lin Congji, founder of server rail manufacturer Chuang Lake Technology, has seen his net worth soar to $16.7 billion (approximately NT$538 billion), surpassing KTK Chairman Chen Tai-ming's $16.5 billion and claiming the top spot among Taiwan's wealthiest individuals, ranking 173rd globally.
Lin's wealth surge is primarily driven by Chuang Lake's strong stock performance. On the 6th, the stock price first crossed the 10,000 TWD mark, becoming the third 'thousand-dollar stock' in Taiwan's stock market history. Amid consecutive days of sharp gains, the stock entered its first day of special trading on the 10th, opening directly at the daily limit of 12,220 TWD, marking two consecutive days of limit-up trading and setting a new all-time high. However, the limit-up price was not locked, and it closed at 11,905 TWD, up 7.16%.
Chuang Lake's latest financial report is equally impressive. In the second quarter, revenue reached 10.8 billion TWD, a 98.7% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 156.1% year-on-year rise. Gross margin hit 87.4%, up 9.7 percentage points from the previous quarter, with operating profit reaching 8.89 billion TWD and earnings per share (EPS) at 74.38 TWD. Benefiting from growing AI server demand, both Chuang Lake's operations and stock price have surged, significantly boosting Lin's personal wealth and propelling him to the top of Taiwan's wealth rankings.
Now 85 years old and having only completed elementary school, Lin began working in a furniture factory making drawers in the fourth grade. He entered the door handle and hinge business in 1977 and founded Chuang Lake in Lukang, Kaohsiung, in 1986, initially as a traditional metal workshop producing furniture slides. In 2000, he extended the slide rail technology into the server rack field, successfully transforming from a traditional manufacturer into a tech giant.
