As summer vacation winds down, the Taipei City Government's Department of Information and Tourism has unveiled a series of exciting August events. The highly anticipated '2026 Dadaocheng Summer Festival' will conclude with a grand finale on the evening of August 15, lighting up the night sky with a 'Spider-Man × Taipei Imagery' drone light show paired with an 8-minute themed fireworks display. The Department advises that the best viewing spot is the grassy area in front of the Stage at Water Gate No. 4. Traffic control will be implemented around the area on the event day, and the public is encouraged to use public transportation.

Department Director Yu Xiang stated that the evening of August 15 will feature a synchronized performance of drone light displays and themed fireworks, with special surprises planned for the Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day). For optimal viewing, visitors are recommended to enter the venue via Water Gates No. 3 or No. 5 and proceed toward Water Gate No. 4, where the grassy area in front of the stage offers a full view of both the drone formations and the fireworks in the night sky.

Traffic control will be enforced on surrounding urban roads from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM on August 15, with the possibility of expanding the restricted zones depending on crowd conditions. Authorities urge drivers not to make illegal temporary stops on elevated road shoulders or no-parking zones. After the event, attendees should follow staff guidance for an orderly departure.

In addition to the Dadaocheng fireworks, Taipei is hosting a series of cultural and family-friendly events mid-August that blend Taiwanese and Japanese traditions. The Taipei Underground Street 'Summer Yukata Festival' will take place from August 15 to 16 under the theme of 'Eternal Summer Breeze,' featuring floral installations at Plazas No. 1 to 6 in Y27 and Y28. The event includes yukata dressing services,文创 markets, and gift giveaways for shoppers meeting spending thresholds.

Meanwhile, Taipei's mascot, Brown, is celebrating his birthday. The 'Brown Bubble Birthday Party' will be held on August 16 at the Taipei Children's Amusement Park, featuring interactive bubble games. Additionally, the 'Brown Birthday Support Café' will run from August 13 to 19 at M5 COFFEE Jieqiu Coffee (Guangfu and Nanjing Dome locations), where customers can receive limited-edition birthday merchandise with purchase.

Looking ahead to late August and early September, the Department is launching diverse experiences that merge Dadaocheng’s historic neighborhoods with contemporary music culture. The 'Herbal Party' on August 29–30 will connect over 20 local brands along Dihua Street, introducing herbal cocktails, lifestyle markets, and traditional craft tours to revitalize the century-old streetscape and showcase Dadaocheng’s traditional dried goods culture in a modern light.

Furthermore, the large-scale music festival '2026 Trendy Taipei' will run from August 22 to September 6. According to the Department, the event will feature over 290 domestic and international teams across 159 events, including concerts, industry forums, and tech exhibitions. Activities will span across the Taipei Music Center, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, live houses, and MRT stations, transforming the entire city into a stage for music.
