Chen Hsing-yu, daughter of former President Chen Shui-bian, posted a one-star negative review on Google for her ex-husband Chao Chien-ming’s orthopedic clinic on her 50th birthday (yesterday, the 12th), effectively confirming their divorce. In the review, she referred to herself as the 'former wife' and accused Chao of extreme emotional coldness toward his wife and children, as well as sloppy medical treatment. She revealed that her own torn shoulder tendon was misdiagnosed as frozen shoulder for five years, only improving after receiving PRP injections at another clinic.
According to reports from Mirror Media, Chen Hsing-yu confirmed the review was written by her. She stated that beginning with 'former wife' indicates the divorce has been settled. She instructed family members to respond to media inquiries with the four-character phrase: 'No further comment.'
Chen criticized Chao for careless diagnoses, including dismissing injuries sustained by their two sons. She further directly named a nurse surnamed Hsu at the clinic, alleging that Chao chose to maintain a close relationship with her instead of bonding with his three sons. She also revealed that this nurse had previously caused a disturbance at Chen’s dental clinic.
She condemned the clinic’s internal culture, accusing staff of focusing more on 'climbing the ranks' and 'pursuing romantic relationships' rather than properly treating patients. She urged the public to carefully choose medical providers.
The marital breakdown became public on Chen Hsing-yu’s 50th birthday. Her brother, Chen Chih-chung, wished her a happy birthday on social media, quoting the poetic line: 'Looking back at where I’ve been through wind and rain, I return—neither storm nor shine remains.' Meanwhile, Chen Shui-bian remains active on Threads, engaging with netizens, but has not directly addressed questions about the authenticity of the review.
