The 2026 Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf Mid-Summer Festival fireworks display will take place on three consecutive Sundays: August 16, 23, and 30. Fireworks will be launched for approximately 10 minutes each evening at 8 PM, attracting a large number of spectators. To ensure smooth traffic and safety during the event, the New Taipei City Government Police Department Traffic Police Brigade will implement traffic control and diversion measures. From 4 PM to 10 PM on the event days, traffic control will be in effect around the Fisherman's Wharf. The controlled areas include Zhongzheng Road Section 1 Lane 87 Alley 8, Zhongzheng Road Section 1 Lane 87, Zhongzheng Road Section 2 Lane 51, Guanhai Road, and the direction towards Guanhai Road from Tamsui Bridge. Zhongzheng Road Section 2 Lane 51 and Zhongzheng Road Section 1 Lane 87 Alley 8 to the port area will be designated as pedestrian-only zones, prohibiting the entry of general vehicles and bicycles. Zhongzheng Road Section 1 Lane 87 will only be open to Red 26 buses and fireworks shuttle buses. Tamsui Bridge will not allow vehicles to pass through the Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf on-ramp and off-ramp during the control period. From 4 PM to 10 PM on the event days, Red 26 buses will adjust their routes and use Tamsui Transfer Station as a temporary boarding and alighting point. Fireworks shuttle buses will operate between MRT Tamsui Station and Tamsui Transfer Station from 4 PM to 8 PM. After the fireworks end, the return trip will be via Zhongzheng Road in Tamsui Old Street, providing boarding and alighting services at the Hwa Nan Bank stop, no longer entering MRT Tamsui Station. After the event, the police will activate dispersal guidance based on the on-site traffic flow. Port area vehicles will exit through the second entrance, and a diversion lane will be implemented from Guanhai Road to Tanhai Road, with traffic split into two directions: towards Taipei via Guanhai Road, Tanhai Road, Zhongzheng Road, Binhai Road, and Dangold Road; and towards Tamsui Bridge via Guanhai Road, Tanhai Road, Shalun Road, and Tamsui Bridge. The police will also guide the flow of people based on different directions such as taking the light rail, bus, walking, and going to Tamsui Bridge to speed up the dispersal. The New Taipei Police remind that the three fireworks events are expected to attract a large number of people and vehicles to the Tamsui area. The parking space around the Fisherman's Wharf is limited, and there may be a concentrated exodus of vehicles after the event. It is recommended to take the MRT, Tamsui-Xinyi Light Rail, Red 26 buses, or fireworks shuttle buses to avoid driving into the core area of the event. Those who drive should leave early and pay attention to the on-site traffic control and parking information, cooperate with the instructions of the police, volunteers, and staff to jointly maintain the smooth traffic and safety of the event.
